There likely isn't a timing adjustment. I believe those trucks don't have a conventional distributor and timing is controlled by the computer.

Make sure you have voltage on the big red wire. Check for votage at the small wire when in the start position. If you do not have power at the small wire check the neutral safety switch or clutch switch for power in the start position. Sounds like one of those is your problem. You didn't state if you had an auto or manual trans. Good luck.

it will be in fuse box under hood or under dash your owners manual shows which relay it is or you can look in a haynes or chilton manual at your local parts house

Have you had the radiator tested for emission blow by?
Radiator Specialists can be of assistance with this testing device. Will indicate if the head gasket is leaking and cause overheating.
