Question about 2000 Chevrolet Blazer
My 2000 Chevy Blazer battery light is on. This happened about the same time last year. Car starts up ok, no dash lights and within a short time it is close to red on the voltage meter. Last year we fixed it by replacing the battery, the alternator and we added a new belt while at it. My son was coming home from a trip to PA, and the light came on again, and now we are back to where we were last year. (So battery is 1 year old, alternator and belt 1 year old.
Could be anything from corrosion on cables, loose cables, lose or faulty wiring of wires behind alternator
defective voltage regulator. Visually inspect all the items noted. Then use a volt meter and measure the charging voltage of the alternator. It must be between 13,5 to 14.5 volts with and without accessories on at idle and 2000rpm. Anything below 13.5 weak battery or defective alternator ,lose wiring , corrosion. Anything above the 14.5 volts is a defective regulator.
