I had the same problem.when I used my main key my car wouldn't start and I got the message "anti theft
faulty". The key and the remote still unlocks and locks the doors and turns the lights
on/off but it just wouldn't start my car. I was able to start my C3 by using the spare key. The main key is still faulty and if used brings up the same message.
TRY REPROGRAM KEY .PUT KEY IN IGNITION SWITCH TURN IGNITION SWITCH ON POSITION 20 SECONDS DONT START ENGINE WAIT 20 SECONDS TURN OFF SWITCH THEN TURN SWITCH BACK ON 20 SECONDS WATCH THE THEFT SECURITY LIGHT BLINKING.WHEN THEFT STOP BLINKING VECHICLE WILL CRANK.IF LIGHT STILL BLINKING.TRY FEW MORE TIMES KEY IN SWITCH ON POSITION FOR 20 SECONDS.MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE CORRECT CAR KEYS IN SWITCH IF NOT WRONG SET OF CAR KEYS WILL SET OFF THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM.IF KEY RESETTING TRICK DONT WORK.CHECK BATTERY POWER MAKE SURE YOUR BATTERY HAS 12.5 VOLTS AND CHECK SECURITY THEFT FUSE.IF ALL LOOKS GOOD YOUR SECURITY HAS TO BE CHECKED OUT AT THE DEALERSHIP.
Place key in ignition, turn to ON position. (do not start) Leave in ON position for EXACTLY 10 minutes. As SOON as the anti-theft light turns off, then IMMEDIATELY start the car. Then anti-theft is now reset.
if the theft light is was flashing on you, put the key in the ignition and turn all the way until the instrument cluster lights up, just don't start the car. leave it like that for aprox. 10 min. or until light goes out. when that happens, turn of(don't take out keys) and try to start car. hope it works.
to reset theft system--turn key to on, leave for about 15 minutes. after 15 min. turn key off, wait 15 seconds. then try to start car. to bypass anti theft system-- all gms===go to site- newrockies.ca/vatsbypass.
You may have a faulty ingition. Otherwise you have the very common GM anti-theft system. If you have a flashing anti-theft light with key in igniton, then this is what you should do:
Put key in ignition, turn to ON position (Do NOT Start) Leave in on position for EXACTLY 10 Minutes Then while watching the anti-theft light, as SOON as the light turns off after 10 minutes, START CAR IMMEDIATELY after light turns off.
if the vehicle starts then stops and the anti-theft light is flahing you may need to re-set the pass-key system to do this you will need to atempt to start the vehicle and when it stalls leave the key in that position and watch the anti-theft light. it should flash on and off for about 5 to 10 minutes. when it stops flahing turn the ignition to off then try to restart your vehicle
no cutoff switch!! try this turn key to on, do not start car. let sit for about 30 minutes, after 30 minutes, turn key off. wait 15 seconds and try to start car. this should reset anti theft system.
