I HAVE A 1994 FORD AEROSTAR CARGO VAN WITH A 3.0.MY SON WAS DRIVING AND IT SHUT OFF AS IF IT RAN OUT OF GAS.PUT GAS IN AND IT WOULD NOT START.HAD BAD BATTERY SO INSTALLED NEW ONE.CHECK FUEL PUMP AND IT IS WORKING. HAVE FUEL FLOW THOUGH THE FUEL FILTER.SO CHANGED FUEL REGULATOR.STILL TURNS OVER FINE BUT NO START.SO I PULLED THE COIL WIRE OFF THE DIST.TURNED OVER MOTOR AND NO SPARK. REPLACED COIL PACK.STILL NO SPARK.I AM AT A LOSS NEED HELP.

Hi,

Yes it sounds like you have a problem with one of the following.
The hall effect unit or the crank angle sensor. Below is a procedure which you can use to find out what the cause is.

Crank angle sensor switching: < 2.0 volts when the vane is in the open part
>8.0 volts when it is in the closed part of the vane.

Also check that your HT lead to the coil is ok it should not be more then 10,000 onms resistence

have you had the throttle cleaned? Sounds like your fuel pump may be getting hot and cutting out. Its possible it could be a faulty ignition module,but that usually just causes a no start not a suptter and stall.

I have a 94 ford aerostar the starter hung up and the the motor just shut off. now we have put on a new stater and the van will not do nothing????


Probably melted a fusible link for the ignition circuit or fried a relay. Check all your fuses, especially the high amp ones. Do you have power to the starter when the key is in the "start" position? If not, check the fuses and cables. You sure the battery is not dead? Do the lights come one?

89 Ford aerostar with a bad leak


I would place my bets on the rear freeze plug being out. You will have to pull the transmission to service it. Start with the simple stuff and pull the transmission and inspect, damage to the rear of the block causing this type of leak next to never happens. I have not seen it in more than 25 years.

yes there is a fuse for the pump check in the fuse block in the van under the dash or the one under the hood on the fender well the other switch should be in the rear corn or of the van under the tail lamps.

i have a 89 aerostar and it would turn off for no reason from time to time and now it just dont do anything after i looked at it. seems the ignition switch went bad and it dose not turn off anymoe the switch is about $25 and its not that bad to put in as for the over heating take a look at the rear heat if it has one it leeks on the carpet and the gauges are just bad 1/2 of mine dont work i just live with it some one told me it was the computer and someone told me it was the gauges

1994 Aerostar will not start


there is a plug at the top of engine crome line about 1/4 dia. that will spray fuel when pump is activated. I removed when i was thinking i had a fuel problem. after spraying fuel every place decided i had to look for other issues
