Sounds like you need to replace the speedometer or complete set of gauges inside the dassh. You can obtain one from the salvage yard, but before you do that make sure there are no recalls on your vehicle because I know that gm has a lot of problem with there gauges. There is some places that rebuild the gauges but you will have to find them on the internet. Also the dealer ca send your gauges in and have them repaired. It would take a couple of weeks to get them back but you can still drive your car but it will be like driving your car with a holr in the dash. Hope this helps.

Abs light brake light on not shifting

look under the truck at the ****** and check the wiring to the sensors if good may be a bad sensor, also check the wiring and connections to the abs wheel sensors [ located from frame to the hub behind the rotors ] the abs also acts as speed sensor if problem was with an abs sensor at the[ hub] wheel usually set the brake system to normal power brakes [if u hit brakes hard will lock up or skid wheels] with the abs light coming on if the speed sensor at ****** malfunction can and usually causes shift problems

Fluctuating Speedometer

The speed senser is mounted on the transmission. This device is an slocrto magnatic motor and they cost less than $100 there held in with one bolt and have an electrical connector. Many times if it's bad enough the check engine light will come on. This problem but the heating up but work OK cild is a good chance the senser has failed.. The trans mission should be checked for overheating as the senser failure will be heal related

Speedometer surging. actual speed 40 mph,

Its a loose connection on the speedo cable. its a b*tch to get to. I had the same problem on my truck, it would fluctuate in 5th gear on the highway. i spent the money and had a professional do it.

Speedometer reading fluctuates

IMHO, I think that the broken cable is what is causing the problems. It "confuses" the programing of the CPU or computer.

try wrapping the main relay panel under the hood with something plastic, see if that helps ...if so there may be a breach in the seal
try to locate it and repair.
and yes humidity wreaks havoc on vehicle electronics.
