Question about 2005 Dodge Caravan

1 Answer

I have a 2005 Dodge Caravan, 2.4L engine that a firend did a 60,000 mile tune up on. Now the check engine light is coming on. I "think" we are missing a hose. If looking from the top of the engine to the left of the Vacuum Brake Line hose there is a nipple with nothing attached. I can't find a disgram or solution ANYWHERE! He tried to "plug" it with tape but then the transmission feels like it is slipping and check engine light is still on. We put a filter on it so it was no just sucking in dirt for the time being. HELP!

The check engine light on your Dodge Caravan model is designed to warn of possible problems in one or more of the vehicle systems.

When you see the warning light on, you can retrieve the code by connecting a scan tool to the data link of the computer system of your vehicle. Depending on the sophistication of the tool, you will not only know the trouble code, but the circuit where the failure occurred, the component in question, and, in some cases, a series of values and instructions to troubleshoot the circuit or component. This may involve testing a camshaft or crankshaft misalignment, fuel injector malfunction, catalyst monitor failure or power steering problems.

Trouble codes are alphanumeric values ,similar to this: P 0243. The scan tool instruction manual or your vehicle service manual will give help you translate this number and point you to the nature of the failure on your Dodge Caravan.
Or ask a repair person to deal with the car as to what exact failure your car is undergoing with the specific code.

Let us know if you have something more to know else accept the suggestion.
