Trailer wiring problem. Tow vehicle is a 2008 Grand Caravan with 4 wire plug. Double checked, plug function works fine. Most likely the brown wire from the trailer connector is connected to a constant battery voltage source, and it should be connected to the vehicle running light circuit, however someone might have wired the trailer connector up that way on purpose so that the trailer does not draw power from the vehicle running lights and possibly damage the vehicle running light circuit. (Dodge/Chrysler vehicles do have delicate lighting systems) Here are some images to help assist you, and the 4 way connector is the same as the 5 way connector just without the blue wire for the trailer brakes.

No power to trailer plug on toyota fj fuses are good

if you mean a 4 pronged plug at the rear of your vehicle that allows you to plug in and tow a trailer safely and legally , then get yourself a testlight and check each prong for power. 1 leftturn, 2-rightturn, 3-parking lights 4-ground .if you have no power at plug check condition of wiring connections at plug and follow harness to source. if you have power at plug the problem is in the trailer. check groundwire, wiring, and bulbs.

I tow an enclosed trailer with my 2002 freelander and the brake lights don't work on the trailer. I have the proper connector which works fine for the turn signals, the hazard flashers and the overall...

If the Brake light filaments in the globes are OK then you could have a bad connection some where in the brake light circuit from where the trailer connector cable is tapped into the vehicle wiring loom.
Start by disconnecting the trailer connector and checking on the vehicle socket for an indication that voltage is present by using a multimeter or test lamp while the brake pedal is pressed. If not OK, then the fault is either where the brake light wire is screwed into the socket or the connection in the vehicle wiring loom.
If OK then reconnect trailer plug and after removing cover, check the trailer plug where the brake light wire is screwed into it. If OK, then check where wire is connected at trailer lamps. If not OK, then there is a broken wire in the trailer cable.

I have a 2008 Ford F 150 with factory installed trailer wiring. I bought a trailer plug tester. It shows the tail light function to be dead. Brake lights, turn signals all work. Any ideas?

The trailer tow adapter parking lamps is fuse #10 in the cab fuse panel. There is also a trailer tow parking lamp relay that powers them, which could have a problem as well.
Start with the fuse, and maybe check both the 7 pin and the 4 pin for the parking lamps, could be a corroded pin on one of them causing the tester to not see the power on the pin.

Electrical towing wiring problem on Grand Caravan 2006

Well the BEST way to fix that is take the Van AND Trailer to the dealer and make them check it over and get it working. Sounds like they screwed up., and are trying to blame the trailer. The 4 pins are easy to check Running lights, Left turn, Right turn and Ground. I suspect the 7 pin is wired wrong. I dont know why they put a 7 pin wiring plug on? Those are used for largeer trailers that need a battery feed and electric brakes

If this is a factory light harness for the trailer hookup on your Caravan. Look under the hood for a fuse box. Many 2000+ vehicles have this with separate fuses just for the trailer lights.

I only have taillights coming out of the trailer plug

so, the trailer has no brake lights, or turn signals, just tail lights? Everything (all lights) on truck work ok? What do you have for trailer wiring hook up 4, 5, 6, or 7 way? There is no fuse, the lights all work off the tow vehicle lights, so if the tow vehicle lights all work properly, it's probably a wiring problem, such as bad grounds, loose connections, etc. Get a volt meter and check voltage at truck plug to see if power is getting that far. If truck plug in is ok, wiring problem is the trailer. Make sure all grounds are tight and rust free, that's a common problem.
