Hi

Pull the hood release lever located under the dashboard. Reach under the hood, find the latch and squeeze it. Open the hood. Find the spark plugs, located in a row along one side of the engine (on an in-line four-cylinder engine) and attached to thick wires, called spark plug wires. Cars with V-shaped engines (which can have four, six or eight cylinders) will have spark plugs and spark plug wires on both sides of the engine. Change one spark plug at a time, always putting the plug wire back on before changing the next spark plug. Pull off one spark plug wire where it attaches to the plug. There is a little rubber boot at the plug end of the wire; pull on this part. Pulling higher up on the wire can damage the spark plug wire and cause it to separate.
Blow or wipe away any dirt or debris around the spark plug. You do not want anything to fall into the cylinder while the spark plug is out. With the spark plug socket and a ratchet, remove the spark plug by turning it in a counterclockwise direction. You may need an extension for your ratchet if the spark plugs are deep-set or not directly accessible. Ratchets with flexible heads are especially helpful for hard-to-reach spark plugs. Check the spark plug to make sure it needs replacing. A good spark plug should be lightly coated with greyish brown deposits. If heavy deposits are present, if the spark plug is black or if the electrode or core nose are damaged, the plug needs to be replaced.

2002 dodge grand caravan 3.3 v6 running rough like on 4 plugs

If one of your ignition coils on the coil pack has gone out, that would affect two cylinders, and you would only have 4 cylinders still functioning. Those two cylinders would not have spark, well, actually a jolt of high voltage current, on the wires going to the spark plugs.

common problem for dodge 4 cylinders...
never lower the oil level unless its real high on the dipstick..
you have the replace the spark plug guide seal.... it seals it from oil in the valve cover going into the spark plug guide and killing the spark... yes oil goes past the threads on the plug....

just did the valve cover on my 94 jaguar... has the same setup valve cover design

Rough idle on 2002 Dodge Neon

Without trouble codes you are fishing in the dark. If the engine has a cylinder that is dead at idle from a fuel injector or ignition problem, it should have a code for a miss on that cylinder. A mechanical problem like a burned valve could cause the problem without setting a code. Have you checked compression on all 4 cylinders ? ?

Hi, my neon '02 doesn't have any power, when engine start up and i try increase the speed - absolutely nothing. Like a powerless. That's SPARKS?

Can be different reasons, but most likely would be spark plugs. Here are some things to check:
1. Spark plugs are usually the first thing to check when you lack power
2. Spark plug leads - if you've replaced the sparks and still no luck, consider replacing the leads as well.
3. Fuel pump - you may not get enough fuel to the engine
4. O2 sensor - connect a diagnostic tool and see if any errors come up

My 2002 dodge neon has check engine light with coded p0302. I know to try replacing the plug/wires, are there any other common causes for this error code that I should check out?

Hi! When replacing the plugs and wires on this model be sure there is no oil in spark plug wells. You will notice the oil on the plug wire boot when removing it. If there is any oil on any of the boots the valve cover gasket and spark plug tube seals will need to be replaced or the misfire code you mentioned will return. Hope this information helps!

the engine mounts and the transmission mounts are broken which causes vibration you can test this by slightly lifting the engine a little bit using a small floor jack but do not lift too much on the oil pan just enough to raise the engine a little and you will notice the vibration is gone if this is the case replace all the mounts.
