Question about 2001 Buick LeSabre

2 Answers

Computer problem Seems my 2001 Buick LeSabre needs a new computer. How much is that going to cost? It was stalling and then wouldn't start and then they replaced a part. It would ran for about 6 miles and then died. There was an error code. They reset that and then it will run for 5 or 6 miles again.

You have another faulty part in there somewhere. It is highly unlikely that the Computer is bad however, you can look for it to run anywhere from $350 to $900 if you get it from a junk yard or $1100 to $1900 if you get it from the dealer.

I would check on Ebay or a local salvage yard for cost of the computer.
I had a computer changed in a 1990 Cadillac Deville that cost only $80 for the part and $200 for the diagnosis and replacement labor. Probably a 2001 Buick LeSabre would cost more, though, unfortunately.

Started having hard starts a shaking in reverse gear loosing power wanting to stall on hills it smooths out and will run fine for a little bit she acts like she's not getting enough gas?

My Buick did that and I changed the spark plugs and plug wires and it corrected the problem. Hope this works for you. I had a couple of wires that shorted out when you were under power going up a hill. If you change the wires yourself only take one wire off at a time and replace with a new one and you will not get upset because you get the wires in the wrong plugs. Its hard to correct once you take them all off at once.

How do i replace a crank shaft sensor on a 2001 buick lesabre

The crankshaft sensor is located behind the harmonic balancer. There is a special tool you can rent/loan from your local auto parts store in order to remove the harmonic balancer. Once it is off 2 bolt hold the crankshaft position sensor in place. Note there could be many other factors causing your engine to stall or not restart; but those crank sensors do tend to go out on those engines.

How do i fix my 2001 buick lesabre the engine stalls when driving it?

Usually when a computer controlled vehicle stalls while driving it's related to the Crank Position Sensor.

sounds like either a clogged fuel filter or bad fuel pump. Filter is cheaper and easier, go with that first

Found a short on the right turn signal would that stop the car from starting on a 2001 buick lesabre

No, it should blow the T/S fuse but it wouldn't keep the car from starting.
