If it runs for only a few minutes the EGR valve must be checked out. If it doesn't open when warm the engine will bogg out and die

How would I reset my 2001 Grand Am Gt! The security light stays on when I turn it to on....and no gas is getting to the engine! So everyone says that I need to reset it! BUT DONT KNOW HOW TO?

Turn key to run, click the engine but do not let it start then relax back to the run position. You will now see the security light on
After about ten minutes light will go off.
Turn key off and back on to run within 5 seconds

Repeat above procedure for a total of 3 ten minute relearns.

After done turn key off and Then start engine.

2000 pontiac grand am will turn over but won't crank

Hello! Any major auto parts retailer can scan your computer and pull the details of the error code that's causing the check engine light to come on. My first guess would be that you have a crankshaft position sensor issue, but the details from the code reader will tell you for certain.

Thanks for using FixYa!

My 2002 Grand am is have a passlock problem. The

I discovered the hard way- ($85.00 later) Step 1: turn key to "on" position. step 2: open driver door. (security light should be flashing on and off) step 3: wait ten minutes with key in "on position and driver door open. step 4: when 10 minutes is up-(youll know-because security light will have stoped flashing after 10 minutes) close driver door ,turn key to "off" position, then turn key "on" to start. drives me crazy!! I have to do it to mine sometimes 2-5 times a day! GM doesnt have a fuel reset button etc. like fords do.

Turn ignition to "ON", slowly press accelerator to the floor three times within five seconds, wait a few seconds and you will hear three tones, the "Change Oil" light will turn off. Turn the ignition to "OFF" and the light will be reset.

Good luck..
