Question about 2003 Kia Rio

Open Question

How do you change the headlight switch on a 2003 Kia Rio. Blinkers work, horn works, fuses not blown. Parts man checked fuses with a paper click and the lights came on and horn blew. DO you have to take the steering wheel off to replace the blinker arm or entire unit (blink and windshield wiper) Thanks!

SOURCE: the headlights and fog lights,horn,blinkers,wipers,a/c,heater,and

pull the hazard switch out of your dash and replace the hazard fuse, it's about $25- $30 from the VW parts department. It took me a lot of time and money for such a simple fix.

SOURCE: Windshield Wiper Arm

Pull up on the wiper arm, you will see a tiny little blade on the side of the wiper arm where it goes over the post, take a little screwdriver and pry that out board, this will release the arm from the post, it will be tight, wiggle the arm and pull straight out away from the post.

SOURCE: windshield wiper arm

These are a tight fit...Spray a little penetrating lubricant onto it and let it sit for about 20 minutes. You will notice there are splines that match up from the drive unit to the base of the wiper arm...sometimes these can get a little corroded and becasue of the relative surface area it makes them a real pain to get off. You may need to just pry against it gently with a flat head scredriver after you spray on the lubricant. Pray at it from all different sides of the base so that it doesn't bind up and get crooked.

Hope this helps! Good Luck!

SOURCE: No headlights, no wipers, no heat, no blinkers

Does your horn work? If not, I had the same problem... It was a faulty ignition switch. Believe it or not...

Hazard lights not working what can we do to fix them?

It really depends on the vehicle in question but here are a few causes for your problem: 1- a blown fuse/ make sure to check the fuse for the Haz/horn and blinkers to see if they are blown. 2- a bulb could be dead or dying/ put on your blinkers, one side at a time and check the front and back to make sure they blink. If one isn't blinking or looks more dim than the others, replace that bulb. Also check your brake lights and headlights. 3- the actual hazard button/switch could be bad/ when you press it( generally speaking ) you should hear a click as it engages and closes the circuit. If there isn't any such noise, and/or there isn't any response from it, it may be the problem. Lastly, if the fuses and bulbs are good, it is more than likely electrical. Have a shop run an electrical system diagnostic to check the flasher switches, relay's, etc. Usually, diagnostics run around $100 or so dollars. I hope this helps

Horn circuit for kia rio 2003

It is unlikely the horn is the problem. We do not have a circuit diagram but here is what I do have:

HORN TRIGGER (-) LT.GREEN/RED Harness Coming From Steering Wheel At
Steering Column, when the horn button is pushed this should be a ground circuit.

Horn doent work. No blown fuses in engine fuse box. Now what???

Sometimes you can get lucky by cleaning out the horn. Find the horn and spray a cleaner inside it, I use brake cleaner but you can even use water. Sometimes this works. You can also make sure connections are good. Try jumping power to it and see if it works if it does it could be the button that isn't working. Good Luck.

What is the correct repair (chilton, haynes, whatever) manual for the 2003 kia rio (5/spd man trans,W a/c & p/s)??

I like Haynes better than Chilton and don't know the origins of this download but the price is very fair at ~$12 US. Not as convenient as a hard copy but your choices may be limited:

Kia Rio, 2004 both headlights not working (no warning), seems unlikely that both lights blown @ exactly the same time. Checked fuses but they're not the problem

It's possible but not likely, if anything it's probably your dimmer switch - lever to flip between HI's/Lo's

My 2005 Kia Rio horn is not working. Occasionally it will work but never when I need it to, like for an inspection. It is not the fuse.

they are not very good these modern horns ,they stick up so what i do is i find the horn behind the front bumper then i oil the vibrating bit on the front with engine oil leave to soak in for a day or so then assistant holds horn on and i tap it with a small hammer works most of the time

2005 kia RIO will not start with jumper cables Initially, I truned the ignition key and only heard clicking sound. Lights, radio and horn all work. I then tried to start with Jumper cables and nothing...

The clicking sound is either coming from the starter relay or the starter solenoid switch. If the starter makes no click then it has to come off and get new brusjhes put in it or have the solenoid replaced. You can check it by jumping the post with the battery cable fastened to it to the smaller post with the small wire on it either with a small screwdriver or a piece of wire.If it goes then, then you need the relay,if it does nothing then you need to fix the starter.
