It is part of the fuel injector inside of the intake manifold. You have to replace the Injector Assembly which is called the "Fuel Meter Body Assembly"

Where is the voltage regulator located on my 91 GMC K1500 5.7L?

The voltage regulator is inside of the alternator, it is an integral voltage regulator, so if the voltage regulator is faulty, the whole alternator needs to be replaced.

The alternator intermittently overcharges, up to 17.7 volts, sometimes its steady at 14.7. Everything works fine, thank you

Sounds like the voltage regulator part of your alternator has failed.

I don't know enough about GM vehicles to tell you if you can change the regulator without changing the alternator.
