Question about 1999 Chevrolet Malibu

1 Answer

Wife locked her keys in the car. Removed the water guard and pried on the door so I could fit a coat hanger inside the car and tug on the power door lock on the inside of the cab. After unlocking the vehicle, I discovered that the driver side window would roll down, but not up again. I removed the rain guard, at the exterior base of the window, to see if the window looked derailed or jammed. After doing so, I gave the interior door panel a good pound, as this used to work on my 94 mustang. Sure enough, the window operated just fine after doing so. Upon reinstalling the water guard, the window would, once again, only roll down. I repeated the aforementioned process, but now the window is completely frozen. I removed the interior portion of the door panel, got my hands under the glass and gave it my best, but it is fixed in place. When pushing down on the window button, it sounds as though the solenoid is responsive, though I hear nothing when I push the up button. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for your help. Jesse

Thanks for the feedback. I replaced the window motor, but still, I can only roll the window down, though not up again. I fiddled with the window button a bit and twice was able to roll the window up about 1/2" or so, but I can no longer get the motor to respond to any upward commands. Back to the drawing board.

That was my next thought. It just seemed odd to me that the switch would suddenly go out after having pried on the door panel to get the keys out. Is there a way to test it before dropping another $50 on a new one?

Replace the motor, the mecanism is made of plastic inside and it has too much freeplay so it ends jammed crooked in the casing, common problem with electric windows

disconnect the switch and bypass it by using wires to connect the wires together. you will have to go through trial and error, basically. try different combination to see if the motor budges, if the window does go up doing that, your switch is at fault, if not, your wiring is at fault

Driver door on 2003 z4 bmw wont open

Sometimes the connection behind the door panel causes this problem. It is a wire that fits into a hole on the inside of the door handle. Be careful when you pop the door panel off. Use the tool, which is a flat thin pry bar. The wire looks like a thick metal coat hanger and fits in the hole.

Can I remove the rear seat from the trunk on a 93 mercury topaz

No, the seat can not be removed from trunk, use a wedge to pry top off the door open and use a coat hanger to hit door lock, or call your local police and they will come out and open the door with a lock out tool,

How can i slim jim the door? (locked my keys

with out the right tools it will be verry hard also you can break your glass or knock a lock rod off.

THE best way to do this is if you have power locks find somthing you can use as a wedge EXAMPLE;screw driver.place the wedge between the dood and the car you may have to pry it open a little. now get a coat hanger and push the power lock button.

Keys locked

A coat hanger stretched out fully, you need a flat head screw driver and a rag, place the rag around the flat head screw driver then use it to pry a very small amount on the top of the door, when you pry enough to get the thin coat hanger through, use the hanger to press the unlock button on the inside door.

Keys are locked inside the car

The easy way is find someone with AAA invite them over and have them call, AAA will come and open er up for ya.
the way they usually do it is to gently pry the top of the door open and put in some rubber wedges that look like door stops, then with a heavy wire like a coat hanger they try to catch the power door lock switch or the lock lever itself. good luck, cb
