Hi,you can disconnect your battery for 5min and then reconnect it.If you have a bad sensor or wire or something wrong with engine, fuel or exaust the code will come back.If it comes back you can take it to your local Autozone parts store and thay will scan it for free and tell you what is setting the code.Remember it may not always be the sensor or wire there may be a underlaying problem setting the code.hope this helps,if it does please rate it.Thank You for using fixya.......iluv2fish.......Ray.....

I would try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and reconnecting, however, it's best to use a scanner to clear codes, if that's the problem you're having.

And, codes don't get erased by simply disconnecting the battery for abs systems, in particular.

Otherwise, cycling the engine on and off 30 or 40 times can clear codes if they go away.

Hope this helps.

The speedometer on my 04 gmc sierra is stuck reading speed about 40 mph over actual speed? can it be reset?

Sadly, no. What has happened is that the tiny servo motor that moves the speedometer needle is failing. When I run into these we remove the dash assembly and send it out to be repaired, usually by a dealer although there are other companies that can do this too. Usually they replace all the servo motors and backlight bulbs during the repairs but make sure you ask if they do so just to be sure.

Where is the cabin filter on a sierra 2004 gmc sle crew cab truck

The 04 SIERRA is behind a panel with 4 screws under the glove box...Remove the screws and cover and slide it out. There is actually 2 in there and it is easy once the cover is off.

Usually there are extremely detailed instructions that come with the new filter when you open the box...Follow these instructions it shouldn't be too hard.

2004 GMC Sierra Computer reset ??

I would suggest stopping by an AutoZOne or O'Reilly's and "borrow" their Scan Tool to erase any codes.
TO reset the "Change Oil" light, turn the ignition to ON (do NOT start the car). Press the accelerator pedal all the way down (then release) to the floor 3 times in less than 5 seconds. Change Oil light should flash then go off. If not, try it again. The trick is to get this done in 5 seconds ro less.
