It should be bolted on. Depending on the model, things might look different, but a socket wrench set should be all that is required.
Maybe a pry bar.

Power Boosters Virtually all modern vehicles use a vacuum assisted power brake system to multiply the braking force and reduce pedal effort. Since vacuum is always available when the engine is operating, the system is simple and efficient. A vacuum diaphragm is located on the front of the master cylinder and assists the driver in applying the brakes, reducing both the effort and travel he must put into moving the brake pedal.
The vacuum diaphragm housing is normally connected to the intake manifold by a vacuum hose. A check valve is placed at the point where the hose enters the diaphragm housing, so that during periods of low manifold vacuum brakes assist will not be lost.
Depressing the brake pedal closes off the vacuum source and allows atmospheric pressure to enter on one side of the diaphragm. This causes the master cylinder pistons to move and apply the brakes. When the brake pedal is released, vacuum is applied to both sides of the diaphragm and springs return the diaphragm and master cylinder pistons to the released position.
If the vacuum supply fails, the brake pedal rod will contact the end of the master cylinder actuator rod and the system will apply the brakes without any power assistance. The driver will notice that much higher pedal effort is needed to stop the car and that the pedal feels harder than usual.

1978 chev motorhome brakes are hard to push down to stop

If they are standard power brakes, check the vacuum booster. The diaphragm may be broken. If it holds a vacuum it's OK. If the brakes run through the power steering pump, make sure the belt is tight and the steering is smooth.

How do i remove the power booster

The brake power booster is held onto the firewall by 4 nuts. To find these nuts, look under the passenger side of the dashboard, near the brake pedal. You also have to remove the pushrod that goes from the power booster to the brake pedal. The brake master cylinder also has to be removed to remove the power booster.
I hope this helps

How do I get the brake power booster off of a 1500 98 chevy truck

The power brake booster is fastened to the firewall with studs and nuts that are located up under the dash. You'll need to remove the master cylinder first, then locate the studs and nuts which are on either side of the brake pedal arm. Use a deep socket to remove the nuts, then pull the booster from the firewall.

Brakes are hard to push down to stop?

Hi- Check your large - very large black hose that goes to the Power steering booster. The booster sits right in front of the driver under the hood and is black - round and large. It has a hose that goes to it from the intake area of the truck - this hose has to be - in good shape - capable of holding a vacuum and attached at BOTH ENDS.

Replace if necessary.
This should fix your problem

please vote me 4 hands up of this is a fix for you.

Thanks

I have a 1998 chevy s10 it has a good brake pedal with the engine off but with it running the pedal go'es to the floor and you can hear air at brake booster

Check for fluid leaks and your brakes. If you see no leaks and your brakes are in good shape replace the brake master cylinder and bleed the system. The air you hear is because the pedal went to the floor. If the booster goes bad the pedal will get so hard you can hardly push it at all. I think you will find if this happened suddenly either you have a major leak or the master cylinder went bad.

Need to replace a brake booster on a 1998 chevy cavalier

get ready for some work.you need to remove the master cylinder nuts that hold master cylinder to brake booster.once you remove nuts you have 2 choices remove master cylinder to remove booster. to keep from bending brake lines.or you can leave master cylinder in pull it toward you easily careful dont bend lines .disconnect vacuum line at booster .go inside vechicle to floor on driver side loosen four nuts on floor to booster .disconnect power brake push rod from brake pedal .dont force pushrod to the sides when disconnecting it.remove four booster nuts then remove booster.when in stalling the new booster loosely install four nuts then connect the push rod to the brake pedal .install new clip tighten the booster unit .if you decide to remove master cylinder use inline wrenches on master cylinder to remove lines.also plug the master cylinder brake line holes to keep from losing all brake fluid.
