best have a locksmith do the job . you will need a new barrel and if you have a key then he will be able to code the barrel to that key before installing it

How to fix 1992 Dodge Spirit Ignition problem when cylinder comes out or locks up

you can go to the junk yard and get another barrel assembly , but you run the risk that you will have top reprogram the immobilizer
It may be cheaper to get a locksmith involved to fit a new barrel keyed to your existing key and that way the expense of programming the key to the immobilizer is avoided

Replace ignition barrel with a snapped metal intrument in it

you can try to remove said instrument with plyers, easiest way for me to fix a car like that is to replace the whole dang steering column. This car has a chip key, you can't just put any old key in it it must be programmed to not turn on the security system and disable starting, which is what you have now, the system has locked you out.

We have a 2000 eclipse, a few weeks ago, somebody tried to steal it by busting up the steering colum. we just replaced the steering colum and the car doesn't want to start. does this car have a kill switch...

Yes, the car has an immobilizer, that only allows the car to start when the proper key (with the proper chip) is inserted into the ignition. Your new column prolbably has a different ignition cylinder (and thus the incorrect key) or is not capable of sending the signal to the ECU

the easiest way is to remove the whole ignition swith which requires security star bits the ones with the holes u can get them at some auto part stores or harbor freight. once out find the movable pin put the key in and turn the key till the pin will push in and the tumbler shoud slide right out, its been a while so i cant remember the position just play with it

Key's snapped off inside ignition

Hi I would suggest you ring the Automobile association, and see whether one of their mobile mechanics can solve your problem. extracting a car key from the barrel may be more difficult than it appears. He, the mobile man may have done it before and have the right tools for the problem.
