We have a 1997 Mercury Cougar XR7 30th Anniversary Edition. When we turn off the ignition, the cooling fan stays on. It doesn't stop. What can we do to fix this problem? Is it the relay switch or what...

HOW LONG IS IT STAYING ON? 5 OR 10 MINUTES IS OK. IF IT'S ON LONGER, IT'S PROBABLY THE RELAY. THY THAT FIRST. IF THAT DOESN'T FIX IT , HAVE A RELIABLE SHOP CHECK THE BODY CONTROL MODULE.

Is there a fuse for the coolant fan for a 1996 mercury cougar xr7

Yes, it would be located in the fuse panel under the hood. If fuse panel is clean there should be a diagram with each properly identified. If only numbers refer to owners manual, the numbers will be identifed in that.

97 cougar xr7, no engine fan, took out, and hooked to a 12 volt system, fan works, any solution?

Check the cooling fan switch, if defective, it won't turn on cooling fan when needed.

There should be a diagram of how the belt goes on right under the hood, right next to the radiator, if it is gone then go to "autozone.com" and look up the info there.
