You can't disable it , sound comes from the radio out of driver door speaker . The BCM - body control module sends this signal to the radio on serial data bus . A faulty input signal to BCM - door ajar switch probably . You need to take it to a qualified repair shop .
It seems to me you should check your fuses, they burn all the time. There inside your car most of the times under or near the steering wheel somewhere in that erea
try this
disconnect battery
undo the fuse box and look at the wires behind that fuse you pulled
check that only radio and clock wiring are fitted there
the chime may its own power source
i could be wrong
i thought chime was separate to sound system speakers
and comes from a small but loud sound device on the instrument panel circuit board ..much like a computer
Chimes are generated by the radio. Unplugging the radio and then plugging it in can activate the security feature in the radio and is very unwise. You can try resetting it by disconnecting the negative battery wire, then plugging the radio in and reconnecting the battery wire. If that doesn't work, check with a dealer to see if they can reset it, but if the radio has been damaged by what you are doing, you may have to replace it.
door chime is activatid by switch on door raido should only come on when key is in on or acc setting if key is not in all the way door chime should not come on at all
The door chime is played over the speaker. I had the same issue the speaker was junk. The circuit resistance was correct but no tunes. Replaced the speaker with one from the junk yard and sounds great all the time.
If you had an aftermarket radio or having problems with your radio that could cause the doors not to chime since some of that information goes through the radio.
Check the radio fuse. As unusual as it seems, GM has started having the radio (even though not turned on) generate the chimes and turn signal sounds. If the radio fails, all the chimes fail too.
This applies to other vehicles besides the HHR. My 2003 Silverado had the door chimes fade down so I could barely hear them. The fix was to replace the radio (under warranty, fortunately...).
