Question about 1993 Chevrolet Corsica

1 Answer

My corsica will run down the road fine and then just cut off with no warning. I try to restart and everything will turn over except for actually starting. Talked to Oreillys and they said that it sounded like Iginition Control Module. I replaced and was test driving it last night. On the way home it starting missing really bad and eventually i couldnt go over 30 or 40 mph and then thank God it died in our driveway. I checked and the wires seem to be all plugged in fine so i cant figure out what it is? I cannot start it unless i keep my foot on the gas and then it will try to die out. PLEASE HELP>

Have you checked the spark plugs?
I doubt the plugs themselves are to blame, but if they are too oily/black/white, it will give you a clue as to where the problem is.
Also check out other possibilities like fuel pump, the fuel filter. If the fuel pump is worn out it has to be replaced the fuel filter is clogged it has to be cleaned and checked. If still same problem then filter has to be replaced. Also get the fuel pressure checked. If the fuel pressure is low then car will not get exact required fuel to run and this can be the issue. At any local car garages they check out the fuel pressure for the car. The other possibility is the alternator of the car.Check out cars alternator. The car runs and starts properly with the charged battery. But when the car runs and when you turn on the radio and lights in car the charge of the battery gets used. But the alternator in the car keeps the battery charge while its running. If the alternator is not working properly or its got loose from its connection to battery then car will not remain charged while running and it will stop due to no or low charge to battery. Also as you mentioned that ignition control module is replaced. But check out for the voltage at ignition module is it receiving exact 12 volt at the module. If not then this is a short in the wires of the car. It has to be checked. . If the problem repeats again n again then its advisable to get car scanned at diagnosis center to get error codes, At diagnosis center you will receive the error code.As per the error code it will detect the exact faulty part in the car due to which the problem is occurring. For more help :--- at www.autozone.com its absolutely free to get car scanned.
Thanks. keep updated for any more query.you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

Thanks for your response. I had added some more info but i think it came up as a new post. I am new to fixya.

What I added was the code information.

    New info.....
I used a code reader and came back with codes 13 and 33. The manual says the 13 code is for the oxygen sensor and the 33 is for the MAP or MAF sensor. Would replacing these fix this issue? Thanks.

1995 jeep wrangler just stops running without warning.

A bad crank sensor will shut the jeep off suddenly, while driving down the road, then restart later and it repeats over and over until you replace it.

I have a 1991 Buick Park Avenue that I just changed the coil pack on. It is six cylinders. I was driving and the car just shut off with no warning. Everything continued to work on car except the engine...

If it won't turn over then what you are saying is the starter is not turning the engine over. You should clean all three of the battery cable connectors and replace bolts. If it turns over with and will not crank up and run reply, I will give you that solution.

96 Corsica hand brake warning light stays on

along with warning that the e-brake is engaged, it's also a waning light that something is wrong with the brake system. however, it may be a defective switch on the e-brake handle. i would have a break check done. also chech the fluid level.

Corsica stalls at stop signs

sounds like the EGR valve is sticky, take a small screw driver and tap the valve when the engine is at idle and you will notice a change in the way the engine runs, if the vehicle smooths out disconnect the valve and drive the vehicle and it should not cut off please let me know and dont forget to rate me!!
