It's not normal for the sending unit to go out.

But, if your wiring is blowing out the sensor, you might try an electrical shop to see if this is the case.

Also, check that your oil is not too dirty and that you have been changing it regularly.

The sending unit for pressure can get clogged sometimes.

Hope this helps.

Low oil pressure light came off and on

I agree. The oil sending unit (sensor) could be giving a false reading. Replace the sensor, have the codes cleared. Also know, that disconnecting the battery multiple times will\can cause the computer to send out false defaults and thus check engine light etc will come on. I also suggest having the mechanic who did your oil change (if applicable) do a pressure test on your cylinders as you may also have bad "O" Rings. This will only cause your engine to burn oil, miss slightly, however, will progress over time if not corrected

Oil Gauge Dropping to 5 psi

Hi again Kelea, I'm glad to help!

Kelea, if you do not hear a lot of engine rattling noises then I would say your "Oil Pump" is OK and you need to replace the "OIL SENDING UNIT" which you can buy at Autozone. CAUTION: If you do hear a lot of rattling noises coming from your engine then I'd suggest having someone check the oil pressure. If the oil pressure is low then it could be all kinds of things that can cause low pressures. From engine bearings, to restrictions, to the oil pump itself. I would start with the oil sending unit first and see what your oil pressure looks like. If your oil pressure is good after replacing the sending unit then I'd consider never taking my vehicle back to the shop that told you it was the pump. Hope this helps and have awesome day.

Where is the fuel pump located on a 2000 Nissan frontier desert runner v6

pump is in the fuel tank and is part of the sending unit assembly(replaceable seperately). i was told this by a nissan dealer when my nissan was getting the sending unit recall done about a month ago. i asked them if since the sending unit was going to be new if it included a new pump, they said no, its replaceable seperately but it goes in the sending unit assembly.

Oil pressure gauge is reading 80 psi. I had the

The oil sending unit is located on the engine block behind the drivers cylinder head area. You have to climb up on the motor to see it cause it is hard to see behind the wiring harness. You may also want to purchase a new sending unit because it is very long and you might need to buy the sending unit socket to replace it.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Egr cooler

They should have replaced it right then. They know that it should be replaced if the EGR valve itself goes bad. They are trained in this and know what they are supposed to do. Tell them if they do not repair it right like they should hae 3 months ago you will go to the BBB and so on to get things right..

Oil chandes and oil light

Sounds like you may not have gotten a full amount of oil in the car, or you may have a faulty oil sending unit. Regardless of that though, you most definitely do NOT need to change your oil every month. Do another oil change and make sure the proper amount of oil is put in (the capacity is listed in your owner's manual in the specifications section). Try it out and see if you continue to have this problem. If you do, it's possible that the sensor is bad and is telling you that you have less oil than you really do.
