SOURCE: Transmission Fluid on a 1998 Olds Cutlass

Bad News! I just checked the Maintenance Logs and it seems that you CANNOT add Tranny fluid on this Cutlass. It has to go in for Service. I know that is Stupid, I TOTALLY Agree!

SOURCE: Need to add transmission fluid to a 1998 Olds Cutlass

on the 98 cutlass if its a 3.1, no dipstick, all other engine models do. on the 3.1 there is no dipstick on it.on these models, it is not necessary to check the fluid at regular intervals.if leaks or other problems lead you to think fluid is low heres how to check it. WARNING the procedure is dangerous, it is best left to a professional with a safe lifting apparatus.the vehicle must be kept level while being safely raised high enough for access to the check plug on trans axle. If your 98 Cutlass has a 3.1 liter V-6 engine, the transmission is not equipped with a dipstick; this transmission requires a special procedure and equipment to accurately check the fluid, which should be done by a qualified service technician. All other engines have a dipstick that is used to check the fluid level and condition. for more info call the olds garage!

When i put my 98 old's Cutlass in reverse it

change your transmission filter and fluid if its a automatic tranny ok dude ?if it is automatic transmission then that's your problem I know if your vehicle does not slip in any forward gears then go to the auto parts store and ask them for the tranny filter kit replacement and how many quarts of tranny fluid you need to put into it ok make sure you tighten the bolts in a sequence and no more then three fingers on a rachet and socket tight ok all evened torked and then add your fluid into the tranny dipstick tube using a tranny funnel ok

I have a 1998 olds cutlass and dont know how to add transmission fluid. can anyone help me?

If you find the dipstick, this is where you add. You must use a long skinny funnel. Idle your car in park and check the dipstick for correct levels.

How do you check the automatic transmision fluid level in a 1998 oldsmobile cutlass

the transmission needs to be warm to get an accurate reading, drive around the block to warm the transmission to operating temperature, when you stop to check it leave the car running, pull the dipstick and wipe it clean, reinsert and pull out again to get a good reading, as you take it out to get a reading keep the end that was in the motor pointed downwards , dont lean the dipstick as this will give you a higher reading, the proper level will be a little higher than half way of the crosshatched marks on the end of the dipstick

I can't find the well for the Automatic Transmission Fluid. I see the cap for engine oil, brake fluid and steering fluid but no transmission fluid. Please help!!!

You must locate the transmission dip stick. Look towards the rear near the firewall. It looks like the oil dipstick but larger. You fill up or add transmission fluid through the transmission dipstick hole.
Good luck and thanks for your question and I hope my suggestions help. burdfrenzy

Car makes a loud noise and jerks when I try to put it in a gear.

we might need to know if this is the car's 1st transmission and how many miles are on it --- but tansmissions that make noise and **** when put into gear are transmissions that are low on transmission fluid or have burnt (old) fluid - check your transmission fluid level using the transmission fluid dipstick (its location should be in the car's owners' manual).
If fluid looks dark (significantly darker than new fluid from the bottle), then drain &fill tranny.
If fluid is just low, fill tranny and monitor level for continued leakage.
A word of caution: keep on top of the tranny's fluid level - running on a dry transmission is a really good way to put a 94 Cutlass into the junkyard before its time.

Oldsmobile cutlass 1998 transmission dipstick, where is it? I can't seem to find it and an auto parts place worker couldn't find it either.

there is not a dipstick for a tranny. your car has a big red cap on top of the tranny, under the battery area
with engine running and cap off......if you can see tranny fluid, then you are fine.

Where do I add Transmission Fluid on a 1998 Oldsmobile Cutlass?

Transmission fluid is added through the transmission dipstick tube. You'll need a funnel - a long flexible one works best.

The Tranny fluid goes in the Dipstick Hole. You will need a Narrow Funnel for this.
