If the compressor is not engaging (the center is not spinning) then it's likely that the r134a is low in the system

Add a an or two to make it work better.

Also, make sure the radiator fan goes on when you turn the a/c on.

Good luck to you.

1999 infiniti qx4 is not blowing cold air

I REALLY DOUBT THE COMPRESSOR IS THE ISSUE HERE. The problem may be the air temperature control blend door actuator motor and/or the blend door is warped and jammed. To replace these componenets it will in most caases require the removal of the entire dash assembly

The blower works on my 1998 Ford Escort but the air conditioning does not get cold. How do I know if it just need freon or if it is the compressor?

does the a/c get cool but not cold? if so then may just need some freon. check the low pressure side with the engine idling and blower set to high and on MAX a/c. the low pressure side should read between 35-45 psi , if it is lower than 35 then add 1 can of freon to see if pressure comes up , if it doesn't then you may have a weak compressor or a clogged orfice tube. but if the air is hot and not even cool the you may have a bad comprossor clutch, check to see if it is coming on.

1999 Ford F150 AC fully charged with freon is blowing hot air

there are few things you need to check out:
1. if the compressor is overcharged it will shut down and you won't get any cool air
2. the thermostat for your cooling system is bad
3. the link to adjust the temperature is too short (did you feel the switch loose when changing temperature from hot to cold)?
hope this helps.

AC stopped blowing cold air

the a/c have many components that can fail, compressor, condenser, hoses, evaporator, or event electrical problem , my recommendation is take it to your mechanic and let him check...traying pouting more freon without having pressure gauges is not a good idea because you can overfill the system and blow a hose or even worse damage the compressor....let them check it ,and after they give you the diagnose you can fix it by your self..hope this help..

Heater blows cold air

Maybe, but I don't believe so.One of two things can be going on,either you don't have a thermostat installed or,your heater core has gone bad.Since you say you have plenty of antifreeze,I would most likely try the themostat.
