My dealer recommended a 'timing belt' change for my 2001 VW eurovan, with the 2.8 VR6 engine, at 100K miles, to the tune of about $1200 US. an independent garage i called for a second quote said that...

on that engine it is a belt newer vw's all have belts, and yes it is recomended at 100,000 miles. to do that job is a lot of work if i were to do it it be between $1,000.00 to $1,500.00

REMOVAL OF INJECTORS ON 99 VW EUROVAN

take of the front, including radiator, take off intake plenum; the injectors are sandwiched in the intake, take the two 6 mm allan bolts out, take out the plate in the direction of the injectors. The injectors is stuck in there probably. The manual says to use a slide hammer but it is better to use a fitting socket on the other side of the injector, goes easy out that way.... a lot of work but straight forward.
