Question about 2000 Chrysler Grand Voyager

1 Answer

Think I posted this to the wrong place, so asking again! Coolant leak on 2000 3.3 auto Grand Voyager. Its weeping out. Been to Chrysler garage who said a little is coming from the water pump (£275 to replace) but mostly coming from the timing cover seals £660 (£500 labour and the rest parts). Any cheaper alternatives, or suggestions would be gratefully received! Thank you

Hi! Taking it to the dealership can really cost you but you can assure that the work is good. You can take it to some garage which can cost you less, can make the work good but can make it worse too. ITs just gonna be a matter of experience. If you think you got a trustworthy mechanic around then well and good but if none, I recommend the dealership to have a worry free service. Hope this shed some light. Have a good one!

Loss of coolant

Possibilities:- Have you tried inside the car, is the carpet wet under the dashboard (Heater matrix leaking) Is the exhaust steaming, dripping excessive water (Head gasket). Coolant cap not sealing, allowing coolant to boil away. System needs to be pressure tested.

Chrysler makes their own special brand but if you check with a parts store, they can tell you what's safe to use. I top off my 2007 Town and ccountry with Prestone - the type that mixes with any coolant. Make sure you put 1/2 water and 1/2 coolant in when you refill.

2000 3.3 auto grand voyager. got a major coolant leak, to the extent that you can see it weep. Been to Chrysler garage, who said a little is coming from water pump (£275 to replace), but most is...

It must be leaking from under the valve cover. The time for rear valve cover gasket replacement is 2.5hrs and 3hrs for both front and rear, I would replace both at the same time and the gasket. Its advisable to get it done by technician if the coolant is leaking as the coolant is leaking from under the valve cover. Its $300 for parts and services (timing gasket $40, valve cover gasket $140, oil pan gasket set $70, and coolant flush for $50) . ''the timing cover is leaking coolant''--engines water pump is behind the cover and it is failing-. as far as parts and labor it sounds reasonable and it all sounds pretty typical for your vehicle. But still get it confirmed by any other tech before getting it repaired. To confirm the estimate cost. Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

Just bought a 2000 Chrysler Grand Voyager with no owner's manual. Need to know if I do a ratio of water and coolent?

Yes, 50/50 mix. Make sure you use the correct coolant. Some time along there, Chrysler switched to red long life.
