Locate your ac hoses that car is equipped with 134 freon with the kits that you buy from the the auto store it will only fit one hose usually its the hose with the biggest fitting its done this way so that you will not use the wrong fitting. as to how much usually 1 can is good enough (small can) provided that the ac is running if its not running then of course youll need more. and youll also have to do some extra steps if it is not running. if its not running then youll have to jump the low presure switch in order to engage the compressor . if you need to know how to do this let me know and ill talk you through it.

They have a bunch of do it your self cans at walmart now days, $20 for a 20 oz bottle, with gauge and hose, you just snap the hose on the low side, it is the only place it fits, and squirt it in, works great, has oil and sealant in it. I just did mine first time I ever messed with freon 134 or whatever it is, I have AC!, never had it before in this truck, No compressor when I got it, got a compressor, threw it in there, blew it up , It works!!! For $20, I am tickled. Check it out, so easy a caveman can do it.

Get an R134a charge kit from Walmart or auto parts store.
It will come with a hose with a gauge on it.
Add R134a with the quick connector to the system until the pressure ranges from 25 to 45 psi on the low side when the compressor is running (a/c is on high fan and lowest temperature setting).

The low pressure side has thicker pipes, and the quick connector only fits the low pressure side not the high pressure side.

Good luck to you.

Where do you add freon to a 2003 Ford Taurus

Freon is no longer legal. AC work requries special tools, like pressure gauges and an understanding of how it works.

Refrigerant goes in the low pressure side, if you put it into the high pressure side, you risk personal injury.

Have a shop do this for you.

I have a 1996 Ford Taurus GL and need to add freon

if the port you are trying to connect to is bigger than the connector on the hose, then that is the wrong one. that's the high side. you want to connect to the low side, which is a smaller fitting. the fittings for 134a are quick disconnect.
