Replace battery saturn sl1 1998

Disconnect the negative and positive battery cables from the terminals on the battery. Take that battery out. Now then buy another battery for you make and model. Put the positive and negative battery cables on the battery terminals of the new battery. MAKING SURE, you have them on the RIGHT CABLES ON THE RIGHT TERMINALS. POSITIVE --- (RED) as the NEGATIVE CABLE is ----(BLACK). If you get them mixed up and try to start the car or something. You will blow a ton of fuses. and no telling what else! Its not hard as long as you can read the (-) << NEGATIVE (BLACK) WIRE and (+) << POSITIVE --(RED) WIRE on the battery.

Can't supply a diagram but I can tell you that 15A fuse 27 in the central junction box (CJB) applies power via a LT BLU/PNK wire to terminal 2 (the coil) of the indicator flasher relay in auxiliary relay box 1. 20A fuse 18 in the CJB applies power via a LTGRN/RED wire to the brake pedal position switch and terminal 3 (the relay arm). Terminal 5 of the relay connects the relay coil to ground (BLK wire). Terminal 1 of the relay supplies power via the LT BLU wire to the turn signals when the relay is closed. Terminal 4 supplies power via the WHT/RED wire to the hazard light circuit when the relay is open.

I am trying to replace the battery for a '97 Suzuki Sidekick. The battery terminals were so corroded, I had to cut the wire and put on some universal terminals. There are two wires for each terminal-

This happens in the shop all the time. It is not necessary to remove the alarm if you have the remote for the alarm. Simply hook the battery up and press the button to turn the alarm off.

Hello! There isn't power to ECM pins 109 and 111 because the ECM relay is not pulling...Pins 1 and 3 (White/Black wire) are tied together in the harness and should not show a change in symptom if jumped together...Also, Pins 1 and 3 are fed battery from fuse # 36 (15A hot at all times) and both pins must read +12 volts...Pin 2 of the relay coil is the pulling ground from the ECM...Reading across pins 1 and 2 with the key in the ON position should not read +12 volts...If it does the relay coil is open...With the key on the relay would show a voltage drop across the coil...Check pins 1 and 3...must be tied together and have +12 volts from fuse # 36 (15A hot at all times)...Replace ECM relay...See photo...............Guru....Saailer...

How to switch out the battery

Remove Negative terminal first, then positive terminal. Battery will have some type of tie down or block at base with a bolt you will have to remove. Remember how it goes back together. Remove battery.
Install new battery and tie down or block. Install Positive terminal then Negative terminal.
Remember to never touch both Positive and negative terminals with a metal object (ie..ratchet, wrench etc) this can cause injury and/or permanent damage to a new battery.

What the easy way to fix your altinator

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the serpentine drive belt.
  3. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  4. Remove the right front wheel from the vehicle.
  5. Remove the right wheel inner fender splash shield.
  6. If equipped, remove the alternator dust shield attaching bolt and unclip the shield from the alternator. When removing the dust shield, be careful not to damage the rubber boot over the battery's positive terminal.
  7. Disengage the alternator field wire connector.
  8. Remove the retaining nut and wire from the positive (B+) terminal on the back of the alternator, using alternator output stud wrench SA9401C or equivalent, as a back-up wrench to prevent the stud from rotating. If the positive terminal stud rotates, the plastic insulator will crack or break, causing alternator failure.
  9. Remove the upper and lower alternator attaching bolts.
  10. Remove the alternator from the vehicle through the wheel well opening.
To install:
  1. Position the alternator in the vehicle and install the lower attaching bolt.
  2. Install the upper attaching bolt and tighten both bolts to 24 ft. lbs. (32 Nm).
  3. Engage the alternator field wire connector.
  4. Install the B+ terminal wire. The battery terminal wire should be placed on the back of the alternator between a 10 and 11 o'clock position.
  5. Be sure to use the alternator output stud wrench SA9401C to prevent the terminal stud from rotating, then tighten the alternator positive terminal nut to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  6. Install the alternator dust shield and tighten the fastener bolt to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  7. Install the serpentine drive belt.
  8. Install the wheel well splash shield and right front wheel. Tighten the wheel lugs in a criss-cross pattern to 103 ft. lbs. (140 Nm).
  9. Remove the supports and lower the vehicle.
  10. Connect the negative battery cable

1989 volvo gl will not turn over. Turn key, dash

Turn you healights on. Turn the car on. If the headlights burn bright, the battery is good. If the engine does not turn over, the problem is probably the starter bendix. The starter bendix is a part of the starter. Have your starter checked at starter repair shop or where you buy your car parts. (You have to unhook the battery terminal from the negative battery post before taking off the starter.)
If the lights did not burn bright, and the engine doesn't turn over. You could have a bad connection. On the Volvo, it has a positive wire and 3 wires that attach to the positive battey post. I clean the battery post with a battery post brush. I clean the terminal ends of the other 3 wires that attach to the positive battery terminal. I use a wire brush to clean the 3 wire terminals. I spray the wire terminals with a electrical motor cleaner (or electrical cleaner) that I pick up at the automotive parts store. Don't spray it on the paint of the car. I put wires on one side of the positive battery terminal. I put a nut on the battery bolt. I tighten another bolt to it. I tighten it tight. I put the positve battery terminal on the positive battery post and tighten (don't tighten this to tight). The positve terminal should be tight enough not to move (but don't tighten it to tight.)
If you clean the positive battery post and negative battery post, you should have bright front headlights when the car is turned on. If not, you have a battery or alternator problem or both.
