Question about 1995 Dodge Intrepid

1 Answer

Car dosen't start it's like the fuel pump quits working. Take off fuelline from the fuel filter to the tank, turn key on for a quick second . fuel seems to be pushing ok. put the line back on the fuelfilter and car starts. Could it be a computer problem? Where is the computer located at? Or do you think it could be the fuel pump itself.

Gas gauge quit working, now car won't start

Sounds like you dont have any power going to your fuel pump. You will have to drop your tank and with a light tester check the red wire for power. If you cant tell with one is the red wire it will be the secound wire going into the plug. If you dont have any power there then make sure your fuses are good. You will need help with this because it is very had to reach the key switch and check the wire the same time. It is on a relay switch and only stays on for 5 secounds. Good luck.

Is there a fuel reset button on my 1996 monti carlo?

Fuel cutoff switches is a Ford thing.Verify 12 volts to the connector at the sending unit in the tank(PCM will run pump for 2 seconds when key turned to "run").If you get 12 volts, and the pump dosen't run when the connector is hooked back up,the pump is bad.

Has anyone know of this problem

You will need air and fuel to make it run.Remove hose from airbox so there is no restriction possible.Next use a small funnel to pour a small amount of gas in each spark plug hole.put plugs back in.if it runs for a second or wants to then you have a fuel pump, fuel filter,or injector problem. If you dont wanna pour gas in each cylinder i would locate the fuel filter and replace it.should be less then 10 bucks.also get a friend to put there head under the car by the gas tank.when you turn the key on(just for power )not to crank motor.they should hear a quit electric noise.that is the fuel pump in your tank turning on.If pump works and no other restrictions...injectors.

1987 Merc Grand Marquis, saving as "collector" car, last ran 6 months ago. Will start, run for 3-10 seconds, then runs out of gas and stalls. Will not start again unless sits for 15 miutes or so. It is...

You need to attach a pressure gauge to the schrader valve and measure the fuel pressure with the key on and also while running. You need to see about 40 lbs in both cases.

Wont start, checked the fuse, cant seem to locate fuel filter.

Turn the key to the ON position without starting the car
You should hear the fuel pump running for 5 seconds to prime the fuel up to the engine so it can start. If no sound is coming from the fuel tank area which can be heard with the drivers door opened in a quite area the oil sending unit on the engine needs to be looked at. If its bad the fuel pump will not prime. If the oil sending unit is good the fuel pump is at fault instead
Oil pressure to your engine achieves to close the circuit to this switch which the computer senses. When the oil pressure is up to normal standards the PCM shuts that circuit off and turns on the fuel pump relay

Car ran out of gas, never started again.

Hello , If you run a fuel injected vehical out of fuel , then you may need to purge the system of air. Locate the schrader vale( looks like a bicycle tire valve ) on your fuel rail. Remove the plastic cap by un-threading it. Push the center of the valve down , watch your face and eyes! Wipe up any fuel , the cycle the key on and off a few times and make sure you hear the fuel pump. Re-press down the schrader valve and check for pressure. It should really shoot out not dribble. Make sure the car has fuel , cycle the key again( cycle means on off on off not turning to start) car should start if there is no air in lines. Thank you , Quinn

Car ran out of gas, now cannot get started

After you've added fuel to the car it may be necessary to prime the system. Do this by turning the key to the on position (not start), wait for 5 seconds, the turn the key off. Do this 3 times, as long as there are no other issues it will start right up.
** You should hear a faint humming sound indicating the fuel pump is working

Volvo will not start, no fuel pump sound

You should hear a hum from the gas tank when u turn the key to on for about 5 seconds, if not the pump is most likely bad, to replace the pump u must remove the fuel tank, remember to replace the fuel filter when u do the pump.
