Question about 2004 Chrysler Pacifica

1 Answer

I have a 2004 Pacifica, several electrical issues:

1) started with the fuel gauge occasionally acting crazy, with gas in the tank the needle pegs to empty. After 2 to 3 minutes it seems to resets.then runs ok untilt he next time.
2) A/C just stopped working.
3) Now the heater and blower isn’t working.

This all started about a month ago.

Please help.

Sell it and run... I am having the same exact issues as you have in the same order even. I fixed the blower not working by changing the blower motor power module/ resistor behind the glove compartment. I paid a shop over a grand to fix the A/C and I'm working on fixing the gas thing now. I think chrysler should buy us all a good car like a toyota after dealing with this piece of blank car. They took our money laughing all the way to the bank. I will never deal with chrysler again and if I ever see their ceo I may break my fist on his face. Chrysler has been no help when I contact them they just want more money to fix the piece of **** they made. I really hope they go bankrupt since they will not stand behind their product. Sorry for the rant I just have never had so much break on one car in so little time and we baby this thing like crazy. When I get on the internet I see so many people having the same problem just to find out chrysler will not fix anything unless you pay big bucks. I understand cars come with maintaince and sometimes things break but this car is just one headache after another. I believe the people who build chrysler cars probably drive another name brand car. Down with these scam artist......

I have a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica with 63,000 miles. It was a 1 owner (prior to me) & was well take care of with regular maintenance. The gas gauge will Not go above the 1/2 mark when filled completely full....

I do not own a pacifica but I do know quite a bit about cars and the digital read out gets in info from the gas gauge. so if the gas gauge is incorrect so will be the read out. I would start at the sending unit for the fuel gauge I bet you will find your problem there. The sending unit is most likely located in the gas tank

When my 2004 pacifica gas gauge gets close to 1/2 tank, the needle starts going to empty and the low fuel light comes on. It then returns to its original position and does it again. filling the tank fixes...

I think that your fuel level sending unit inside the fuel tank may be at fault. Because the sending unit is immersed in fuel, and the float arm is constantly moving as the fuel sloshes around inside the tank, the sending unit can eventually wear and send an erratic signal to the instrument cluster. Another type of failure can occur if the sending unit becomes coated with deposits from fuel that will also affect how accurate the sender signal is. Before replacing the sending unit I would try using a fuel injector cleaner that has the additive "Techron" in it to see if this would clean off any accumulated deposits on the sender and restore it to working order. I've had pretty good results using this approach on several vehicles in the past few years and if it doesn't help you're not out much more than the cost of the cleaner. Good luck, hope this helps!

from what you are describing you have two(2) different problems
1- the wacky gauge- its acting like a grounding issue- wires are crushed/smashed on tank connector
2- not filling - venting issue- vent line to top of tank pinched
3 solution- run tank down to 1/4 or less and DROP tank down to inspect wires and hoses- sounds like at some point in time the tank took a hit and wedged itself upwards against the underside, pinched the vent line so there is too much pressure in tank and also crushing the wires/plug causing the erratic readings(worse with less weight as the tank moves more)
if unsure of how to do this- you can get a manual such as a HAYES book at auto parts story- good luck

The fuel guage on my 2004 Chrysler Pacifica jumps around

This is a simple service fix. It's a glitch in the computer system. Take it to the dealer and there is some sort of code they can enter to "update" the car's computer.
Mine does it occasionaly, it annoying, but not harmful.
I've heard of some that will act up for a while, then stop, while others, have acted up and them the fuel gauge stays on empty.
Talk to the dealer.

1999 buick when fuel gauge drops below 3/4 it is is not accurate

i dont know the specifics of a Regal, but usually, when a needle fluctuates too much, is because the float gauge in the gas tank is worn out, or its mount became loose. You cant see that effect on a full tank because the instrument needle and the float are pegged against the stop.

2004 Chrysler Pacifica Fluctuating Fuel Gauge Indicator

Hello, the answer to solve this problem is to take it to your nearest chrysler dealer and have them re-flash the updates to the ecu....since 2004, chrysler has had about 4-5 new updates since the date they were need to have the update that followed from your date of man. on your vehicle....They attempted to flash mine to the latest update and didnt work, turns out that they need the re-flash from back order to get the gauage to stop fluctuating.....Hope this helps!!

Gas gauge reads empty but tank acts like it's full

I also have a 04 with a 1.8L. same problem. I took the fuel regulator off. It is a black box behind the rear tire under car. It only has 2 bolts to take off. After that there is a couple of vent hoses from the tank going to this box. Unplug them and 1 electrical connection. The electrical connection and one vent is connected to a T connection on the box that you can unplug by twisting on the T. Take that T off and look inside where you unplugged the hose on this T. There is a spring and a little plunger inside this tube. The plunger gets stuck. I took a little screw driver and some PB blaster and worked that plunger back and forth a couple dozen times and it unfroze. Put it back together gassed up just fine. I did not look but I was told regulator can be replaced for 200$. But a can of blaster is cheaper.
