1998 s10 pickup was detained for 16 months to run and heat transmission slipping transmission and does not reverse but it works well when cold

It most likely has a hydraulic leak in the transmission,or a crack in the transmission case itself,this is what happens when the vehicle heats up.If this was helpful,please rate,thank you,

it sounds like a transmission issue but it could be injectors how does it ilde or run without a load on the unit how does it shift are there any codes showing is your check engine lite on this gives a lot of information

Yes, shouldn't be a problem as long as it is the same type transmission. may have to use electrical connectors from the '98, but maybe not

I have to take WD40 every 6 months or so and spray moving parts and have a helper inside pulling handle to get it moving again, may have to press down on hood to get it open first.
