The running bords on my 2008 Yukon stop working

Circuit/System Description
The assist step control module (ASC) controls the running board actuators to extend or retract the running boards. Each actuator consists of an electric motor and a potentiometer. The module supplies a low reference and 10-volt reference source voltage to the potentiometer. The ASC control module monitors the voltage drop across the potentiometer on the position signal circuit. When the actuator shaft rotates, the voltage on the position signal circuit changes. The ASC control module supplies the actuator motor with a 12-volt control circuit and a ground control circuit. The ASC module controls the direction of the actuator by changing the polarity of the control circuits.
You should take this to a ASE certified repair shop that has the diagnostic tools to check for stored DTC'S in the running board control module . A code reader for check engine light codes will not work for this system !

Pontiac vibe ignition switch? Intermittent dash

Basic electrical problem . loose connection on a ground circuit ,high resistance . There are no magical fixes for automotive electrical gremlins . Finding electrical wiring diagrams an voltage drop testing the electrical circuits is the only way to find the problem .
When the ignition switch is placed in the Start position 12 volts is supplied through the Park/Neutral Position Switch or Clutch Pedal Position switch to the switch and coil side of the Starter Cut Relay. If theft is not active the Theft Deterrent Module grounds the control side of the Starter Cut Relay closing its switch. Power then travels to the coils side of the ST Relay with ground at G200 closing the ST Relay. Power then flows from the Main fuse in the Fuse Block - Underhood through the switch side of the ST Relay and then to the S terminal of the Starter Solenoid. Ground is found through the engine block.

Mercury outbord motor missing

First, you will get more response in the boat or outboard section of Fixya. You are listed under Cars and Trucks.

It will also help if you state the Year and size of the motor. If I remember correctly, some of the motors had screen filters for the fuel and some had individual feed lines to each cylinder.

Check your fuel lines so you know that you are not drawing air instead of fuel. Also if this is a 4 cycle motor, they had a low oil cutouts and they can work so fast that you would not detect a miss, just a drop of RPM.

Sparkplugs are reasonable, throw in a new set , keep the old ones for emergencies and see if that helps.

Relist in proper section if my solution does not work. Please rate.

What size engine 3.3 or 3.5 L ? Without testing ,would only be guessing . You need to look at a wiring to see what all is involved in the starting system for your vehicle. Then using a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter test the electrical circuits . Free wiring diagrams here http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html
Enter the vehicle info. year , make ,model and engine size . Under system click engine then under subsystem click on starting . Then click the search button then the blue link . Looking at the wiring diagram you will see a number of componets . Ign.switch ,when turned to start sends B+ voltage through the coil side (control side )of the starter motor relay .This would close the contacts sending B+ voltage from fuse A - 20 amp to the starter solenoid engaging the starter . If you look at the control side again , at the end , you will see the PCM - this is the engine computer . If it see's that the vehicle is in park or neutral it will supply a ground to the control side energizing the starter motor relay .
The battery maybe new ,but what about the connections and the cables ? Voltage drop testing the cables and connections should be done .

How do I change the engine radiator fan motors on my 2001 Buick Century?

  • Remove the passenger side kick panel using a Phillips head screwdriver. Pull the rug back from under the blower motor to allow enough room to drop the blower motor without the rug interfering.

  • 2

Disconnect the electrical plug from the blower motor. Pull the rubber vent hose out of the blower motor.

  • 3

Remove all the Phillips head screws securing the blower motor to the housing. Drop the blower motor straight down.

  • 4

Install the new motor in reverse order of removal

Drop the evap cans and replace the hoses on top. I have a 2001 with the 5.9 with similar issue. the cans on mine are passenger side outside frame rail in front of rear tire. also replaced a couple hoses in line on top of passenger side fender under the hood. One short hose on the front of the throttle body under the air filter. Spent $10-$12 at autozone with hose left over. The long plastic hoses on mine looked like they had already been replaced.
