Question about 2004 Ford F150

1 Answer

Gas pedal lag. Prior to my gas tank falling off, I had problems getting getting power with my gas pedal. When I was driving along, and wanted to go into passing gear I got no results. After having a new gas tank put on and changing the spark plugs- it still would not engage to pass.

Try a TPS, Throttle position sensor. Its job is to send a signal to the vehicles computer to advance timing and fuel for the throttle position.

If you have the Double Overhead Cam engine DOHC V-8, there is a problem with the engine. A part called a "Cam Phaser" now has an extended Warranty. The Phasers are a variable valve timing device. The engine will make a Tapping noise until 2000RPM and then the noise will go away.

In any case, go to Autozone or Oreillys for a FREE scan of your engine. This scan can also identify Transmission problems too.

Truck runs great and drive on freeway wants to cut out then miss and runs great again. changed plugs wires cap and rotor prior to problem 1996 nissan pickup 4 cylinder

seems that you might have some water in the gas tank. get some gas dryer and pour in the tank. 2 half pint bottles should do to a half tank of gas. good luck.

The shift from 2nd to 3rd gear lags

My feeble understanding of DCT says that the computer monitors the speed of the engine, speed of the car and gas pedal input. I would suggest you test the variable resistor on the gas pedal to see if it is worn.

Golf 2000, hesitates, goes into limp mode, feels like no fuel?

It may also be water in the gas. Gas after a while will go bad. and the tank also condensates. You may want to try some HEET or some gas additive that reduces the water in the gas. And it maybe the pump pickup is bent wrong or something and is actually starting to come out of the gas. Remember the gas gauge is only an indicator. I doesn't accurately tell you how much gas you actually have. I have ran out of gas a couple of times because it trusted the guage, only to find out that my sensor in the tank was on consistant from one tank to another.

I hope this helps

Smell of gas when filled over half

Likely to be the gas tank vent hose that allows air to escape from the tank when filling. Probably located somewhere along the trail from the filler tube to the tank and likely to be difficult to reach. The connections get loose and the hose falls off sending fumes into the passenger compartment.
