I had a cadillac deville from 1990 that had a similar problem. One wire was broken to the motor.

I have seen this common problem on several Altimas. You have a wire that has been pinched in your power seat that is frayed and grounding out on the seat frame causing the circuit breaker in the BCM to trip. U will need to remove the drivers seat from the car, Use a screwdriver to pop off the seat adjustment knobs, the pop off the plastic cover from the seat switch. There are two phillips head screws holding the switch to the seat. It is necessary to cut the seat material a small amount to access the screws and remove the switch. U will need to unplug the switch from the bottom side of the seat and unclip the wiring harness from the seat frame in order to remove the switch/wiring harness assembly. Once removed you will see the chafed wire. Simply cut the insulator that covers all the wires back far enough to repair the wire. I normally take a small piece of vacuum hose, split it down the middle and put over the chafed wire. Tape everything up with some electrical tape. When putting everything back together, re-route the wiring harness to a different location so it doesn't get pinched again. Re-install the seat and enjoy having all of your power options working again. If you need any more info on this or some helpful pics, let me know. Have a good day!

The lift motor in the power seat is probably bad. Yes, there is more than one electric motor in power seats. Have it checked and replaced if necessary.

If it will move in every other direction I would start by looking under the seat and check down in the seat trac for something lodged in it way.

Front seat locked in recline,

I just bought a 2005 Nissan Altima that had the same problem. You really can't bring the seat back up without removing the motor and manually turning the metal rod. The motor in my case was fine. I opened the switch and found that a trace on the small circuit board was cut/missing. I soldered it on the spot and it solved the problem. You can access the switch by carefully prying off the switch buttons, then the plate. There are two screws that must be removed so that you can pull the switch assembly out of the seat.
