2001 Deville: check engine coolant level display comes on, however coolant level seems fine. Today the engine hot ac off display came on and the temperature gage also was above normal
Problem began to show up approx. 6 months ago. When I added coolant the check coolant light would go off for several months before returning, this is the first time since the problem began that the temperature gauge posted an above normal reading and the engine hot ac off display light came on. I have checked the oil and there does not seem to be a water-oil mixture.

If the engine is not really overheating and not low of coolant. Replace the temperature sensor.
--------------
The Failed temperature sensor has a zero reading for the Control board, without this reading the car starts running in limp home mode or Default and assumes the engine is running hot.So check the temp sensor and thermostat. If its faulty or weak you will receive this error. In some cases it has noticed that every thing in the vehicle checks out ok.But the wires in pcm touching and shorting out causing the computer to go nuts and it shows error on display. The pcm is the car's computer. Also check out if any coolant leak or vacuum leak.Get the ac pressure tested at local car garage to confirm leak.Mostly it leaks at the pressure hoses .Either the hoses are loose or worn out in such cases. Thanks. keep updated for any more query.you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

    . If
the problem repeats again n again then its advisable to get car scanned at
diagnosis center to get error codes,
    At
diagnosis center you will receive the error code.As per the error code it will
detect the exact faulty part in the car due to which the problem is
occurring. For more help :--- at www.autozone.com its absolutely free to get car
    scanned.

Hello! First, what color is the coolant; Orange, green or brown? It must be Orange (Dex-cool) otherwise cooling system will need to be flushed...
Your vehicle requires Dex-cool (orange) system will become corroded...

This is the most common failure....Using the wrong coolant...System would need to be flushed...The recovery tank removed and washed...

Hello! That eliminates the coolant as a problem...When the engine is cold...Have you checked the level in the radiator...And the overflow tank? If both are at the proper level, Replace the radiator cap...I don't want you to spend your hard earned money until the simple items are eliminated...Low pressure from a defective cap Is on the list...Your vehicle is equipped with a Flow Restrict...It may be clogged...If the cap does not solve the problem, have the cooling system back flushed...i believe at that point the problem will be solved...

Hello! I need to correct information that I sent concerning the coolant level problem...Please accept my apology...It got rather busy and I was going back and forth between two computers...

Your vehicle has a sealed cooling system...their isn't a radiator cap...The coolant level switch is located in the "surge" tank...Tank is where you add coolant...The wire colors in the connector are...Light Green and Black...The level switch is more than likely dirty/contaminated or connector is loose...Drain the radiator...Remove level switch from surge tank...wash out the tank...The switch can be tested in a bucket of water...Connect an ohm meter to its two pins...when switch is suspended in water the contacts close...when removed contacts open...If defective, replace...

Flushing the cooling system should clear the over heating...I would also suggest replacing the thermostat...And again please accept my apology for sending incorrect information...

Hello! Here is some additional information...GM vehicle's that use Dexcool in a closed cooling system are prone to poor coolant circulation due to air entering the system...The radiator has very little conductive metal to stop the coolant itself from conducting current...This is known as electrolysis; Which turns the coolant to a jellied goop...There is a test to determine if this is happening to your vehicle's coolant...Allow engine to reach operating temperature...Make sure your wearing safety glasses and gloves...Slowly loosen the cap...Let it hiss until it stops...Using a digital multimeter set to read less than 1 volt...Connect - probe to - battery post...Place the + probe into the coolant without touching any metal...You should not read a voltage greater than .01 volts...If you do you've found the problem...

Drain and replace coolant and test again...If it is still above .01 volts grounding straps are required...This is a well documented fault...A solution is to purchase two braided copper grounding straps...Connect one end of strap to left side of bracket that connects to the radiator (bare metal)...Repeat on the right side of radiator...Connect the other end of both straps to bare metal ground on the engine...Test again...

If it still reads above .01 volts there is an additional fix that many Cadillac owners have used which stops the problem for good...This may sound odd however it works...

Buy a piece of copper water pipe that will fit inside a heater hose...Around 2 feet in length... Solder a 10 gauge wire in the middle of the pipe...Remove a section of the inlet heater hose and replace it with the copper pipe...Clamp in place...Connect the 10 gauge wire to chassis ground...When coolant passes through the pipe the current flowing in the coolant is returned to ground...

This is a permanent fix to the electrolysis issue that ruins cooling systems on GM closed systems using Dexcool...

2000 cadillac deville is overheating, replaced thermostat: water pump radiator had head gaskets fixed it's saying check coolant level and it spews coolant from the overflow tank cap when hot thoughts?

Two cooling fans controlled by three relay's . If only one fan is working ,that could be a problem .
Coolant Level Sensor Description
The coolant level sensor monitors the coolant level in the cooling system and indicates if the coolant is low. This sensor is located at the base of the radiator surge tank and is not serviceable.
CHECK COOLANT LEVEL (2)
The IPC receives a discrete input from the engine coolant level switch. The engine coolant level switch is normally closed. When the engine coolant is low, the engine coolant level switch opens. When the IPC receives an open signal from the engine coolant level switch, the IPC displays the message on the DIC.

Late cooling nissan maxima 2001

check coolant level in radiator. also check the cooling fans and make sure they are coming on when the car is hot. the a/c will not come on if the car is running hot. the computer will not turn the a/c pump on to keep engine cooler and prevent a brake down. make sure all those things are in working order.

My 2001 cadillac deville has check coolant level

If you added the green anti freeze to you system it will make the check coolent level light come on. Drain the system and use the extended life anti freeze and that will fix the problem.

Keeps running hot replaced the water pump and the thermostat

The Northstar engine in this model is bad to blow head gaskets. Pressure from a cylinder will overpressure the coolant system and all the coolant will blow out. When that happens the engine will overheat. I fixed mine but it cost about $1500 in parts and tools and 5 weeks. If your coolant level is fine, check your fans and your radiator. One fan will come on when the AC is on or around 230 degrees F I think-They are designed to run hot.

AC and blower sometimes does not come on immediately, Info center reads check coolant but coolant level is fine. Any relationship between the 2 issues??? 2001 cadillac deville

No coolant has to do with heat. freon has to do with ac. Now when you said your ac AND blower doesnt come on right away are you saying it does this ONLY when its on ac or when its on heat too. I would first change out your coolant level sensor or add coolant (which you said was fine) and see what happens. but im sure they are not in relation as the blower motor is on its own circuit

Hi!
Looks like a classic air lock scenario! you need to perform a system bleed.
Park vehicle on level ground, when cold remove coolant filler cap. Start engine and leave to idle, turn heater to hot blower on full.
When at operating temp stand clear of coolant filler area, listen/watch hopefully gurgling and a boil over, top up when settled with very warm water/coolant, wait as it may do it a couple of times. Check for heat inside vehicle if hot and coolant settled replace cap but watch temp gauge for a while as another air lock may be in the system.
Please press the Blue button when sorted!
