Question about 2001 Volvo S60
It's either the sensor, wiring or the module that interprets the temperature, I believe.
I have a 1999 Ford Expedition that reports a false low temperature as well, It started doing this after I washed the car, and intermittently does report a temperature lower than reality.
Good luck fixing this problem.

Tips for a great answer:
Jul 18, 2014 | 2004 Ford Expedition
Jul 11, 2014 | 1996 Buick Park Avenue
Jun 18, 2014 | 2002 Chevrolet Malibu
Nov 29, 2013 | Cars & Trucks
If your temperature reads in climate control reads in degrees Celsius "C" instead of Fahrenheit "F", follow these steps to change to Fahrenheit.
The display should then change to "F". Follow these same steps to change your read-out to Celsius , if preferred.
