Ford Focus c max 1.8 petrol idle problems

This can be caused by a defective Maf sensor and coolant sensor, they will not trigger a code because as long as there is a signal the computer doesn't know the actual engine running condition enough to say the signal from the 2 sensors is wrong, this goes double for MAF sensors, another area is the idle speed control motor.. I want you to read about the problem at the link below.

Has any1 got a clu crank sensor Ford Focus 1.6 petrol w reg any1 know what could be destroying

ive seen this happen on a few little 4 cylinder cars before , turns out after some serious looking that in a few cases that the crank sensor was magnetically triggered by a magnet that was milled into crankshaft , don't know what caused it but somehow that tiny magnet worked its way out a fraction , and was hitting the end of the sensor and in a short time would make it go bad from water/oil inside it , the correct way to fix it is to install a new short block or crank shaft , but a temporary fix is to shim out the sensor about 30 thousands of an inch with shimm stock if the magnet doesn't move anymore that will make it last

2000 jeep Cherokee sometimes runs fine shut it off wont start but turns over fine later it will start

Ok. You didn't say what size engine was in the Jeep, but based on your problem, I'd bet its the 2.5L 4 cylinder. They had a classic issue with intermittent failure of the crankshaft sensor. This will cause the vehicle to just shut down without any other indications, Sometimes it will restart immediately, sometimes it can take minutes to hours to restart. The sensor is easy to replace and not very expensive. It is located on the drivers side of the transmission bell housing.

Engine suddenly dies

You need to have it scanned for codes. If it has a crank position code then you need that sensor. They fail alot. If you are standing in front of vehicle it is on pass side of motor down by the crankshaft pulley. It has a 10mm nut securing it to the timing cover. Also the sensor has 1 connector on it you remove that, then you take the bolt out. Spray some penetrating oil on it. Grab some channel lock pliers and work it back and forth. The sensor has a metal bail on it to. You can buy them at a parts store or a dealership should be around 40 to 50 bucks. I know guys who keep an extra one in the truck while on trips.

Ford Focus cutting out

Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve, they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.
