Question about 1999 Chevrolet Lumina
Describe your 1999 chevy lumina (auto transmission) that doesn't want to shift into overdrive. Shifts fine from 1st to drive (3rd), just won't go into overdrive (4th). Any ideas on the problem? Is it electrical or tranny?
If it won't go into overdrive a speed sensor within the transmission may not be sending the shift signal to the transmission. Check fluid levels to make sure that's not causing the problem. Also, check that the fluid is red color and clean.
Transmission probably needs to be serviced at a reputable shop if you want this problem fixed.

Needs a new sensor that's all unless fluid is low.
