I have a 1983 Ford Escort. Can you tell me where exactly the starter solenoid is located?

Hello! The starter solenoid (aka the starter relay) is located either on the firewall or fender...There are two cables connected to the + terminal of the battery...One of these cables is a direct run to the solenoid...Trace it and you'll find the solenoid...

I think you mean starter removal?
1: remove neg lug first or BOOM. bida boda boom. ouch.

It is located on the top of the starter and is part of the starter motor.

I think the ignition switch is stuck in 83 ford f150. when you put battery cables on it is trying to start. I can put the key in and turn it and take it back out, but until the battery is disconnected it...

If your able to remove the key it's more likely that your solenoid is locking up. If the engine is actually starting then it could be the bendix is locking into the flywheel and not allowing the starter to release.

hi from uk to locate starter on any car including yours follow the positive lead from the battery and at the other end it is connected to the starter solenoid the starter on your car should be at the rear side of engine as you lookunder bonnet it is next to bulkhead and is secured with thre 13 mm spanner sized bolts b4 you disconnect starter cables DISCONNECT THE BATTERY EARTH LEAD !! IF YOU TELL EXACTLY WHAT IS HAPPENING ? WHEN YOU SAY WO'NT START? we may be able to help with diagnosis b4 you tackle starter ?

I have three wires on a ford escort mk 2 alternator 1 thin blue and two red what do the red ones go to and how do i tell them apart

the two red wires technically join together into the 1 wire,then goes down into the starter motor solenoid i.e the live feed which then goes bk into the battery to charge the battery.

How to install a starter

1 Disconnect the battery.
2 Working from under the vehicle, disconnect
the main starter motor cable and the two
wires from the starter solenoid
3 Unbolt the starter motor and withdraw it
from its location.
4 Installation is the reverse of the removal operations.

the starter motor is on the rear side of engine nearest bulkhead and is connected to the engine where it connects to g/box clutch housing by three bolts b4 you tamper disconnect the earth lead from battery also if location is not clear in above ? follow the positive +red lead to where it connects on engine this will be the starter solenoid part of motor hope this helps ps to remove starter is best done and more accessable from below
