No rear running lights. Turn and brake lights work. what do I do

The tail lights are also called parking lights.
There is a 10amp fuse for each rear parking lamp. The fuses are in the rear fuse box. Your owner's manual will tell you where that fuse box is located.
The fuses get power from a park lamp relay.

I have a 1994 Lincoln Mark VIII, will not shift out of park!

Hello Sparky.

There is a solenoid that unlocks the shifter when the brakes are applied.
Check for brake light operation. If no brake lamps, check the brake lamp fuse in the instrument panel fuse box. It is fuse number 11 and is a 10 amp fuse.
If blown you will have a short in the system and it will need to be traced and repaired.
If you need more help with this issue please ask me here.

I have a 2000 Catera and the brake lights don't work. I need to know the color code on the brake switch. The switch that I can get to is made at rest and opens when the brakes are applied. This seems...

Hello Mark.
In the brake lamp switch there are three switched circuits.
One that goes to the ECM one to your brake lamps and one to cruise control.
I suspect the circuit you are looking at that opens is for cruise control.
As you can see in the diagram for the Catera below.
For some reason the color of the wire for the output for the brake lamp is not shown although it indicates it's purpose. Eliminate the other colors and it will be that one.
If you require more assistance with the switch wiring let me know here in comments.
Thank you for using FixYa.

Have a 1999 Chev. Suburban. Problem is with brake lights. Top panel (on roof) works but neither side panel works. Replaced circut boards in tail lights, new bulbs, and all fuses are good. What next?

WITH A GOOD FUSE TESTER, TEST ALL THE FUSES FUSEBOX UNDER THE HOOD & INSIDE THE VEHICLE. IF THE FUSES ARE ALL GOOD WITH THE TESTER YOU MUST HAVE A BAD BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH OR A BAD TURN SIGNAL SWITCH. THE BRAKE LIGHT CIRCUIT GOES UP THROUGH THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH & THEN TO THE BRAKE LIGHTS. FIRST OF ALL IS THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH GOOD ? THE ORANGE WIRE FEEDS THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH, THE WHITE WIRE PUTS POWER TO THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH, SO THE LIGHTS CAN BE USED AS TURN LIGHTS OR BRAKE LIGHTS. , PUT A TESTER IN THE WHITE WIRE & PRESS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. IF THE TEST LIGHT LIGHTS UP, BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH IS GOOD, BY THE WAY THE BRAKE LIGHT FUSE MAY BE LABELED" STOP", THE FUSE LABELED" BRAKE" IS FOR THE ABS SYSTEM. TO CHECK THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH FOR BRAKE LIGHTS, REMOVE THE PLASTIC COVER FROM UNDER THE STEERING WHEEL, PRESS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, PUT THE TESTER IN THE SMALL YELLOW WIRE, THEN THE SMALL GREEN WIRE. IF THERE IS NO POWER IN EITHER WIRE, THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH IS BAD.

Brake lights are out, the cab brake works but not the tail ones. Bulbs are good cause turn signal works, fuses don't appear bad and need to ck brake switch and replace to see if fixes. Please help!!!

THE FUSE FOR THE BRAKE LIGHTS MAY BE LABELED " STOP ". GM USES BRAKE FUSE FOR THE " ABS " HOWEVER, THE FUSES NEED TO BE TESTED WITH A FUSE / CIRCUIT TESTER, IN THE FUSES BOX UNDER THE HOOD & THE FUSE BOX INSIDE THE VEHICLE.

I installed the connector for trailer lights...and my brake lights will not work now. Lights turn on when headlights are on but no brake lights when pedal is pushed. I took the trailer lights out and put...

sounds like a fuse, but it could be blown bulbs, check them first they will be blackened a little or the element will be burned off or disconnected. the fuse panel should either be on one of the sides of the dash when you open the door, underneth the dash on the drivers side or under the hood in the engine compartment. It should be labeled brake light or brake lamp, if you cant find it, just check them all and replace any that are blown with the same amp rating (number on the top of fuse)

No brake lights but 3rd light works all fuses are good

Sounds like a broken wire somewhere.
Since the middle brake light works I would suspect it is somewhere in the trunk or close to the back seat.
Buy or make a tester. A 12v light with a clip on one wire that you clip to a good ground on the car the other wire with a sharp point. Turn the turn signals on then poke wire to rear lights until tester lights. When tester lights you know the break is somewhere inbetween the tester and the brake lights.

Hope this helps.
