Question about 2001 Dodge Stratus

1 Answer

Air conditioner does not cool. Everything else works fine. All wires look OK. Have power to the dual pressure switch but none to the condensor. Does this indicate a bad pressure switch?

You may need to get the system re-charged with freon.

check see if coolant fan running.it need to be running because in coming air cools down condensor which hot refrigerant has to be cool down so it can recirculate through system again.

96 ford e350air conditioner problem

Looks like you checked all the things that need to be checked except "one." Sounds stupid, but did you check your temp switch on you dash to make sure it is the air conditioner you want to run instead of the heater? Sometimes, many forget this one simple check and can't figure out why the air conditioner won't engage.

I have a 1999 jeep grand cherokee and the air conditioner works fine at a higher rate of speed - when tooling through town the blower is much slower and can't stay cool, any thoughts?

Check the pressures on the AC system to detemine if it is properly charged. Also make sure the condensor is clean so air will flow freely through it.

HIGH PRESSURE CUTOFF SWITCH LOCATED ON AC COMPRESSOR DISCHARGE LINE LEADING TO THE CONDENSOR.THE HIGH PRESSURE CUTOFF SWITCH WILL CUT OFF THE AC COMPRESSOR IF SYSTEM PRESSURE RISES TO HIGH CAUSED BY RESTRICTION IN THE REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT OR OVERHEATED CONDENSOR.MAKE SURE COOLING FAN IS RUNNING WHEN THE AC SWITCH IS ON.THE COOLING FAN KEEP CONDENSOR COOL, IF COOLING FAN DONT RUN.YOUR AC WILL STOP BLOWING COLD AIR.HAVE THE REFRIGERANT SYSTEM CHECK OUT.MAKE SURE YOUR LOW SIDE PRESSURE IS 10 - 37 PSI. THE HIGH SIDE PRESSURE SHOULD BE 112 - 210 PSI. CHECK THE AC COMPRESSOR CLUTCH FUSE AND RELAY.

Is there any way to restart or reset the automatic air conditioning of a land cruiser Prado 2003. Every thing seems OK, it is functionning but it is not cooling.

HAVS THE A/C SYSTEM PRESSURE TESTED IF LOW IN FREON WILL NOT COOL
IF FRONT CONDENSOR IS PLUGED UP WILL ALSO AFFECT PERFORMANCE
TRY SPRAYNG WATER TO FRONT CONDENSOR TO SEE IF A/C GETS COOLER
IF CONDENSOR WAS CLEAN THEN LOW FREON SHOULD BE SUSPECTED
ALSO CHECK LINES TO COMPRESSOR (A/C) IF SUCTION LINE IS COLD AND PRESSURE
LINE IS HOT COULD BE A BLEND DOOR ISSUE IN INTERIOR AIR PLENUM OR DEFECTIVE SELECTOR SWITCH
HOW LONG THOSE THE A/C CLUTCH SAYES ENGAGED IF CYCLES IS SHORT THEN
ALSO SIGNED OF LOW FREON

I have a 2002 Dodge Ram Quad Cab 4x4. The a/c runs great as long as the truck is moving, but as soon as you come to a stop it starts blowing warm air. Please help.

Generally if the a/c works fine at highway speeds but kicks out or slowly begins to blow warmer and warmer air as the vehicle is driven at slow speeds or is stopped the a/c condensor cooling fan is usually at fault. At highway speeds there is enough air being forced through the radiator, condenser, and oil coolers to keep everything working and cool but when the vehicle is moving slowly or is parked the electric and mechanical cooling fans have to be working to pull enough air through to keep things working. If the cooling fan isn't working or can't pull enough air through the a/c condensor the system will kick out once the internal pressure reaches a certain point. Once the vehicle is moving again the system can get rid of the heat that it has gathered from the passenger cabin, the pressure drops back to normal and the system cools again. I would start by looking for a blown cooling fan fuse in the fuse panel under the hood. Usually they are 25 amps or larger and run only the cooling fan.

1998 Crown Victoria air conditioner

Fuse 9, 50A under hood, Fuse 5 15A Instrument panel. If they're ok, make sure the compressor clutch can be turned by hand (engine off, obviously). If not replace the compressor. Most common problem is the cycle switch. That should be the electrical connector on top of the accumulator. Just jump that by backprobing the connector on both sides with a pinand connect them, with the car on and a/c on if the compressor clutch engages, replace the switch. If it doesn't, try wiggling wire harness and watch it, if it engages, find a broken wire and repair it.

1997 Mercury villager, Air conditioner was working, now compressor kicks on and off, shows over charge in the red, why? Nobody added any freon.

high pressure is usually from heat not being removed from freon in the condensor. Usually it's because the cooling fan is not sucking air through the condensor. Check your cooling fan relays (3) in the battery box in front of the battery. Also, check to see if cooling fan has failed.
Does it work ok when the engine is cold and then quit after engine warm up? That would be a clue. When pressure gets too high, there is a high pressure cut-off switch.

Other posibility is a restrcition in the system. not common though.

It's either your blower motor switch or you have a short in the wiring from your switch to the motor or you have a bad relay.

sounds like your pressure switch is bad.as the temp outside gets hotter the more pressure is built up in your ac so when the pressure gets to high the pressure switch shuts down the system to prevent damage to it.Did u put any more r-134a in to the system if so then the pressure will be to high and the switch is doing as it is supposed to.Thanks for using fixya
