What causes both cooling fans to not run?

Hi Naomi , there is a lot involved in the control of the cooling fans on your vehicle ! There are three fuse's , three relays an a fan control unit !
1. radiator fan main relay , located in underhood relay box A
2.condenser fan relay , located in underhood relay box A
3.radiator fan relay , located in underhood relay box C
4.Cooling fan fuse # 47 20amp. underhood fuse / relay box
5.condenser fan fuse # 50 20amp in underhood fuse / relay box.
Any one of these could cause them to not work, rather then just replacing parts an wasting money you should take it to the repair shop !

Radiator fans not working

you should check fuses first if its been working good then i would dought if fuse jumped OUT of fuse box , there is a fan relay also , could be bad . swap out relay with a good one see if it works. you can also check temp sensor that tells fans to come on . good luck .

Need to know where the fuse is for the fan by the radiator. I know where the fuse box is at because mercury sable has 2 boxes. Which one contains the fan fuse. My fan is not working and been replaced and...

You have a relay there are 2 speeds low speed and high speed this is controled by a cooling fan module if you changed fan and it does not work then you will need to check the fan module, first the relay its in the engine fuse junction box High speed is marked on the relay C1056 and low marked C1058, here is what you can do go to the high spped relay open thhe cover and expose the relay with key on collapse the relay does the fan come on? if it doesnt replace the fan module if it does you will still have to replace the fan module here is the location is at the radiator on the front (may be under shroud)

Radiator fans won't come on. Fuse ok

If fuse is ok, check the relay fuse box under the hood to see if relay isn't short. Try to rotate with another relay of the same specs. If it works, then your relay is bad, if it still doesn't work, we can assume your radiator fan motor is bad, and the fan needs replacement. You can test to make sure it is the fan motor by unplugging the wiring harness to your fan, then test it with a 12v battery via the postive and negative terminals. If you get nothing then, it is definitly your fan, if not, could be a temperature sensor.

I have a Chrysler town & country model 2002 where the radiator fans are no longer running. What should I believe is the problem? Fuses seems ok. Could it be the relay or some other switch? I have been...

A lot of this could have contributed to the radiator not working.. and you have already mentioned some of them. it could be the fuse or the relay or the wiring of the fan or the fan itself..

the fuse issue is easy to fix. identify the fuse box, open the lid and look on the inside for the specific fuse for the fan on the schematic there.

replace the fuse with a spare..

If the fan still does not work, approach your mechanic to check any of the other causes of the fan not working..

Need to inform you of the implications of using you car with the radiator fan not working...
Over heating has grave consequences pay attention to the gauge.....
fix problem as soon as possible.

99 honda civic lx, my fans are'nt turning? Could this be a fuse??

Do you mean radiator fans or heater fans?

If radiator fans, they don't work all the time, but only when it gets too hot. When the car is not moving, they will usually go on eventually. But in normal speeds, you don't need fans.

If there is a problem, it is usually the relay, but could be the ground, one of two fuses, or the temperature sensor. The main fuse is a big one, because they draw more electricity then anything else. The switch is usually in the radiator, and powers the relay primary from a small fuse. The relay secondary then goes from the large fuse to the fan, and back through ground.

Let me know if you mean the heater fan.
