Question about 1989 GMC Safari

Went out to start van and it seem as if it wont turn over the first time but it did; then went to the store around the corner and it wont start or turn over. i kept turning the ignition to start and after a few moments it started right up. now that i shut it off in the drive way it wont start again.

That sounds like a starter issue. If the engine is clicking when you turn the key on it will be starter. If there is nothing when your turning key on it's probably battery or solenoid issue. Solenoid for starter is located attached to the side of your starter.

Transmission park switch located on top of the transmission is out of range,OR bad....Had a winstar mini van that did that..also would switch from over drive to drive from time to time went going up the hyway ..replaced the switch on top of the trannie connected to the shifter..problem went away

check ur battery cables an connections for resistance causing a bad voltage drop upon starting.chek ur grounds at the blok for bad rusted connections and wiresthat are all corroded, peel insulation bak to inspect wires for corrosion

1999 dodge caravan wont go int0 gear, but if i get the engine to around 8000 rpm the axle will turn, but van still wont move


have your cv joints checked, was there a grinding noise as you went around a corner before it died? if so, then it was the cv joints.

My caravan stopped running when i turned a corner. the van cranks but seems like its starving for gas. i sprayed starting fluid through air intake and it will start gas doesnt seem to be going to...


I think the fuel filter is inside the tank, and when they get clogged it is time to replace the fule pump. thy not to drive the vehicle around so close to empty.
