To start off with, if you have diesel fuel filling into your radiator you have a serious problem becasue as far as I know all Isuzo Troopers are gasoline powered. Even so, there should be no way for fuel or gas to get in the radiator. I suggest you take it someplace to have it looked at if you have fuel in your radiator. As a matter of fact I would have it towed and stop driving it until you can have it towed someplace.

Does the '89 Isuzu Trooper II have a gas tank

Depending on how good the guage is, when the yellow light comes on telling you that your fuel is low, you have approx 2 gallon left in the tank. It is never good to run on a tank that low due to heat buildup of the pump which causes pump failure. The gas acts as a coolant for the pump.

This happened recently to my Handa Civic EX 98. It turns out when we run our cars very low on gas the fuel pump sucks the rest of the gas and the rest of the junk in the tank blocking the fuel filter and sometimes going through the pump and ruining the pump. But go with replacing the fuel filter first. This cleared my fiance's car i replaced the filter and it was fine.

G'day
I dont know if this will help but i had a similar problem with an isuzu sbr and after doing all that you have done i took the fuel tank off and drained it. Every thing looked fine so i washed it out with a little bit of petrol and a small piece of clear plastic came out. What it was doing was floating up when the truck was not running but after i started the truck it would slowly get sucked down to the outlet and block the fuel line.
It was very frustrating and it took me quite a while to find the problem.
hope this helps.

Where is fuel pump located

Inside the gas tank. If you try to change it have containers handy - or another vehicle with an empty tank - to drain the gas into. It is MUCH easier to drop the tank when it is empty!

Have you considered that "like it had water in the gas" might be that there was water in the gas?
there is about a gallon or more of "reserve space" at the bottom of the tank below the fuel pickup. Water is heavier than gas and will lay in that space and cannot be removed by running out of gas. I suggest you remove the fuel filter carefully and empty it into a clear glass container and see if there is any water there. (it will be at the bottom) If you find any at all good bet there is much more where that came from!! (don't use dry gas...it can't handle large volumes of water. Drop tank and drain it!!
