Question about 1990 Buick LeSabre

1 Answer

1990 Oldsmobile 98 regency, had this car for three years, runs great. 106,000 miles on it today. When I got it, it was winter season and the speedometer didn't work. As summer came along the speedometer started to work. Don't know why it does that in the weather temp. Now in July it just went out again two days ago. The car still drive just fine. What could this be?

If your car has an electric transducer for the speedo the contacts may be getting moisture on the them and not sending any impulse to your speedo
could not see a cable driven speedo having that sort of a problem
hope this helps

There are only 2 bolts. They go straight up through the starter motor housing into the engine block. You may have some plastic covers that go around the starter and flywheel area that will need to be removed to get to them.

The fuel pump will come on then, shut off when the key is placed in the ON position, this is normal. What is not normal, is when the key is turned to start the engine, and the fuel pump does not run when the engine is running at the same time. The initial power up you hear is a prime function that all vehicles have.

Sticky deceleration.

get a can of carberator cleaner, and a bottle of white lithium grease, the spray kind,

spray the throttle springs really good with the cleaner, let it dry, and spray the lithium grease on it, and work the throttle back and forth, this should solve your problem.
