I have a 99 Lincoln Towncar. I just retured from CA and I have noticed that the radiator fan will come on high speed and run a short time and cut off and shortly therafter will come on again for a short period. I realize the fan is suppose to run on low speed anytime the AC is on. The car has never run hot but the high speed fan will come on shortly after I start a cold car. Perhaps this is normal but I have never noticed it before. The trip across country and back (6400 miles) through some pretty rugged mountains may have over worked the fan causing it to be louder. Please give me your thoughts.

The antifreeze level is fine, no overflow. Is it posible that the fan is just loud and it has done this all along and I just didn't notice it? I didn't notice it until I returned from the long trip across the US.

On this model towncar, is the high speed fan suppose to come on and off when the car has just been started? The high speed fan will come on and run for a few seconds then cut off. This repeats over and over. I know as long as A/C is on the fan is suppose to run and it does this on low speed but doesn't seem rigth for the high speed to cut in and out. However, a couple of people have told me this is normal. Has anyone else noticed this?

My 2001 Lincoln towncar keeps over heating when the ac is on. Please I need help on this issue

Since the engine doesn't overheat normally, we will assume that the the cooling fans work correctly. That said, if there is a partial blockage of the radiator core, the additional heat generated from the A/C coil in front of the radiator may be causing the radiator to be unable to cool down the coolant sufficiently. Also, check the coolant mixture to ensure it is good enough for the summer season. Weak anti-freeze can cause boil-overs. Ensure that the radiator fins are clear of debris and that the radiator fan(s) work in all speeds (if they have more than one). Lastly, if there is supposed to be a shroud around the cooling fans to provide better pulling action thru the radiator, make sure it is in place and properly secured.

1996 lincoln towncar. Changed radiator, used stop leak for intake manifold leak, replaced radiator fan and relay, removed thermostat completely, and waterpump is not leaking but the car still runs hot....

Stop leak will plug up a new radiator very quickly. Did you bleed the air out of the system completely? After all those parts there can be a pocket of air in the block .

The radiator cooling fan is not working. Upon

assuming fuse and relay are good..no fan should be running when the engine is cool/cold, the only time the fan should be running when it reach over operation temperature which then the fan kick on to bring the temperature back down to it operation temperature. both fan work in sync with one another, addition cooling is needed when the ac is running. when the last time have you replace thermostat and Thermos sensor/switch. I would replace both unit if you have not done so. The thermos/switch will turn the fan on when it reach certain temperature and cut off when it sense the temperature drop in the engine.

99 lincoln twoncar Horn doesn't work

Be sure to check your fuse first

Common problem. I had the same problem a couple of years ago. You have 2 horns located at the back side of the grill, in front of the radiator. I replaced mine with a couple of horns off of an old cadillac that my son wrecked.

To test your horn, you can run a wire directly from your battery positve post to your horn's wire terminal. (The horn is grounded to the body of the car thru the bolt attached to the horn bracket.)

Had the same problem on my 99. What I found was that the antifreeze level was low. Took me more than a galllon to fill up. After that it has worked fine.
