Question about 2002 Ford F250 Super Duty SuperCab

1 Answer

I have a 2002 F250 4x4 Super Duty Super Cab with 175,000 miles. When I start the truck there is a slight miss and a fuel exhaust smell. The smell goes away within 10 seconds. When I start driving amd reach around 45 mph my truck starts bucking and loses some of its power until I press the accelerator. The truck constantly misses and bucks when I drive down the interstate. I have replaced all my coils, plugs, and wires. I have also replaced my fuel filter.I have put it on a computer several of times and no codes show up. Thank you for the advice.

Hello. go to most any auto parts store and get two bottles of a fuel additive called Seafoam. Follow the directions on the label and add it to your fuel tank. Drive it for a few miles and you should resolve the problem which is likely caused by gunk built up in the engine. j.

Truck was idiling for couple of minutes then just started miss firing. wasn't smoking but u can smell the raw fuel out of the tail pipe. hooked up computer coder an it would not read the anything off the...

First things first, examine the plugs. Cold engines run richer, reducing the required voltage to jump the plug's gap. As it warms up, the mixture starts leaning out, driving up the spark voltage requirement.

If the center electrode appears as if it were cut from a piece of wire, that is, square shoulders on a cylindrical piece of wire, the plug is in pretty good shape. When those shoulders wear to the point of making the tip of the electrode appear rounded, it is time for new plugs.

It is natural to smell fuel in the exhaust of an engine that is misfiring. Usually the fuel from the cylinder that failed to fire gets burned in the exhaust pipe, being ignited by the flame from adjacent cylinders. But that does not always happen.

Misfiring usually won't show up as a trouble code unless some component that is monitored by the electronics is causing the misfiring.

Smells like fuel and exhaust in the cab of my F-350 Super Duty Diesel. The engine doesn't sound like the exhaust is leaking and my gas mileage hasn't changed. also there are no puddles of fuel under the...

Check door rubber seal for damage / wear.

To test exhaust simply place a flexible object over exhaust pipe to seal it. If no leaks it should blow it off.

Ford 3500 2002 Starters keep going. Hove

If they are breaking, check the flywheel for damaged teeth. If they are failing electrically, it is probably heat. Make sure there is not a missing shield between the starter and the exhaust manifold. If you are towing, consider wrapping the exhaust in that area with special heat insulation tape (kind of like ace bandage)
