How do replace CV joints on a DAEWOO NUBIRA 1998

cv joint reconditioning is done by specialists shops and is not recommended for untrained personal.. It generally works out cheaper, quicker and there is a warranty for the cv joints if done in shop. Find a reputable ,accredited drive shaft specialist and the both sides should be done inside 4 hours

I need to replace the inner cv boot on the short (driver's side) cv axle (half axle) on a 1986 Volkswagen Jetta. Can I do this by only disconnecting the inner end of the axle?

On a regular US/Asian car you replace the entire shaft. Reason being it is cheaper to get a rebuilt exchange than to take the shaft to a machine shop have them take it apart put on a new boot and reassemble it. I would think the same principle would be at play on a German car but who knows.

The el cheapo way to do this on a normal car is to buy a replacement "split boot" at a parts store. This is put on with some very high tech rubber to steal glue and zip ties and will get you through until the shaft itself fails and the labor to remove and replace the whole enchilada is justified. The split boots come in two generic sizes.

Good Luck

The seal around the CV shaft where it enters the tranny sounds like it needs replacing. You have to pop out the CV shaft to replace the seal. Its not a difficult job if you're handy. Good luck.

I need to know if special tools are needed to replace the drivers side CV joint on my 2000 Ford Windstar.

I would buy a rebuilt axle half shaft from your parts store and replace. It is cheaper than CV, boot. grease, and seal And, you have new CV's on each end of axle half shaft, not 1.

2003 Impala. Grinding noise when I back up and turn the wheels. Notice axle grease on the frame under the boot on both sides but more so on passenger side.

Replace CV joints, or half shafts. Half shafts are much easier, and the cost isn't that bad after you exchange the old ones.

1989 toyota corolla base 4-door manual tranny, drivers side drive shaft has play in transmission side, both the driveshaft and transaxle bearings look okay, what else is there? what keeps those shafts...

There is a large lock nut that holds the axle into the splined end inside the transaxle. This nut is usually torqued into place very well though, but if it is loose or was not torqued properly then this could cause free-play in the axle. You can look up the torque specs online or use a chilton or Haynes manual to get the specification.

My front differential is leaking!

I cannot see it, but I am guessing that you need to replace your axle seal. To do this, you have to pull your CV shaft out. Remove the tire, remove the caliper from the top of the rotor. Using a hammer on the back, remove the rotor. Take off the spindle (axle) nut, separate the axle (CV shaft) from the hub. Replace seal. It should pop right out. Good luck!

97 ford explorer awd bad right front cv joint

Yes you can, If you have taken the front drive shaft off, you can even still drive with the CV joint in place till you want to remove it. You may get some vibration around corners till you replace the CV joint or remove it totally.
But if your going to remove it, might as well wait till you have the replacement so you only do the job once. I had a Bad CV joint on a AWD Chevy van and did the same thing so i could still use it, and then replaced the CV joint when the weather got better.
Good luck and hope this helps.
