Replace your overflow cap. You usually don't see it leaking but the cap no longer holds the psi and the water comes out and dries quickly from the heat. Try replacing the cap and I think you will be surprised at such a simple problem can cause.

Why is my citroen picasso 1.6hdi top radiator hose hard under pressure and pressure at radiator cap

The whole coolant system is pressurised so that the water has a higher boiling point. This is normal as long as there is no leaking of steam or Overheating on the gauge.

A spanner symbol appears when I switch the engine on, the car beeps a couple of times, then symbol goes, beeps stop and I drive. The coolant seems to need replacing very frequently, but it's too wet w

Your water pump is bad, better fix it asap or your engine will mess up and cost more money.Look under vehicle after it has been parked awhile and you will see leak on ground.

could be intake, could be head gasket. take the radiator cap off and fill it to the brim with water, then start the engine and look for bubbles in the water. you might have to top it off while it's running to get a good reading. if any of the plugs you took out were much cleaner than the rest, or had a white crust deposit on them, the head gasket is probably the culprit.

I have an automatic 1997 4.0litre Jeep Cherokee Ltd. A few months ago whilst towing I noticed that the temperature gauge was fluctuating from just above 40 to over 100. Very shortly afterwars the radiator...

guess, here in net bunny land.?
sure, that is coolant lose. the gauge can measure air temps
so goes goofy. all do with air there.
so find and fix that leak.
its a pressurized system 14psi, so any leaks will be very serious.

My heater is not working and is blowing cold air and it also is overheating

your coolant lavel is low or you have a head gasket problem/ leak. If the truck has a 4 cylinder 2.2 litre engine it is probally the head gasket.

My jetta wont start, getting a cherping sound from under the hood

A chirping sound like gasses blowing through a small gap????
If so it may be a headgasket blown. To diagnose, 1 check in oil cap and dipstick for a white/grey sludge deposits showing water and oil mixing. 2 check coolant filler cap for similar sludge deposits. 3 check around the top of the cylinder block for signs of oil or carbon "blow outs". Do a cylinder compression test on all cylinders and compare the readings(1 or more lower readings will show a problem).
If all ok, check the inlet gasket for leaks, will see signs of oil/fuel leaks.
If you are losing power and using more fuel then normal it could be either of the above, if you are also losing water as well as power, points towards head gasket.
I can't think of any other possabilities, so good luck.
