Hi! Like any other cars, the fan relay is located underneath the hood at the side of the fender on the driver's side. Just follow the wire from the fan to the relay. Are you trying to bypass the relay and connect it directly so the fan will always be open when engine is on? It can help though but Im pretty sure theres a problem why it overheats. Here are some reasons why the car overheats. 1). The fan itself maybe weak not blowing enough air to the radiator. 2). Radiator can be clogged by dirt and rust which can stress out the car's engine. 3). Check if the water on the radiator circulates, if not then its a water pump failure. If the water pump doesnt perform well it will really overheats so a replacement will be advisable. Hope this helps and have a good one!

I have 01 monte carlo. The fan's are not working. Put a new censor in and relays. The fans are still not kicking on. Ran some code and one was PO 140 and PO 403 any idea what these codes mean?

as far as these codes they refer to the PCM signals to the o2 sensors ,but i don't think they would affect the cooling fans , does the engine overheat ? are you loosing coolant ? one reason the fans may not cut in is if the waterpump isn't working but you would have noticed lowcoolant , do the top and bottom radiator hose's get very hot ?if both hoses very hot and you've changed the sensor etc it may well be the actual fan motors , try putting a direct power and earth to the fan wire connectors , this way you will know if fans are good if they start , then the problem may be in the wiring , which can be a nightmare to trace , hope this is of some help

How do I troubleshoot my 1993 Saturn sl1 the fan doesn't work so the car overheats, beings I'm a female, tired of depending on a am , please help

If you know for a fact the cooling fan is why the engine overheats, you would test the relay and the signal from the computer.
The relay gets power from the battery circuit and the key switch, and a ground signal from the computer when the fan is needed.
The engine temp sensor tells the computer how hot the engine is, and when it reaches 220 degrees the computer grounds the relay providing power to the fan motor.
You would need a meter or a test light and the wiring diagram for the circuit to find the problem.

Electric fans aren't coming on therefore the engine will overheat. Why aren't the fans working?

Go to the Autozone.com site and register your vehicle. Then you can get free wiring diagrams and fusebox layouts. Like the other Expert said, there are several parts starting with temperatue senders which tell the relays to direct power to the fans. You can start with the fan motors to see if the motor is good.

After that, the temperature sender, the fuse, the relay. Notice that there may be 2 temperature senders which means 1 goes to the dash and the other controls the fan relay.

I hope my solution is the best for you.

Make sure your radiator fan is working or cutting on.It could be a faulty fan relay or fuse and it could also be a faulty coolant temperature sensor.

1995 ford escort a/c works great, but car overheats while a/c on

The thing to do is to look in your main fuse box under the hood and check to see if the fuse for that is blown. Another solution is to direct wire the fan from the fan itself to the battery, that will help you to determine if its a relay or if your fan motor has gone bad.If its works when hooked direct you can run a wire to theinside of the car and attch it to a toggle switch.

1995 Toyota Avalon - Overheating

many things to consider.

first , the fan itself. could be worn out carbon brush that is why it would not run.
verify the fan, remove the socket and put a 12 v directly to the fan and see if it would run.

second, the fan relay. check the fan relay to see if it is doing what it is supposed to do. check if power is flowing from the supply to the motor.

third, the sending unit. make sure the sending unit is signaling the relay to turn on the fan if it is already hot.
