How do I install the air conditioner / power steering belt

Unless you have the special tools I recommend you have it replaced by a shop, this is not a easy job for a beginner or someone that does not have the righ tools to do it with. The cost of the tools alone is more expensive than having it done.

Remove air compressor

It looks like the ac belt also runs the power steering on the 1.5 engine. Removing the belt would cause you to loose your power steering. You could still drive the car, but not without difficulty.

Replace alternator belt

To replace the alternator belt, you must first remove the Power Steering/Air Conditioner belt. The tensioner for this belt is on the left side of the engine (when viewing from the transmission end). Loosen the tensioner pulley center bolt and then loosen the adjusting bolt. Then the alternator bolts must be loosened and the adjusting bolt for the alternator must be loosened.
Reverse procedure after installing new belt/belts.

I have 1996 Kia Sephia. When the air conditioner is on, the power steering doesn't work about half of the time and the car makes a squealing noise when turning, starting, and sometimes when idling....

Loose belt-tighten or worn idler pulley bearings.Tighten belts first and if the squeel is still there remove belt and check all pulley bearings.Grab the pulley by hand and give it a wriggle-there shouldn't be any play axially

When replacing the alternator belt on a 1999 mazda protege how many pullys does it go around. cause i dont know if this belt is to long

There are 2 belts. One goes around the Crankshaft. the Power Steering Pump and the Air Conditioner Compressor (if equipped) and the other belt goes around the Crankshaft, The Alternator and the Water Pump. You can have your local parts supplier verify that you have the correct belt for the vehicle by calling them and giving them the number on the belt. Also make sure that you are installing the belt in the correct position. i.e. putting the alternator belt on the alternator and not on the power steering, etc.

How to change power stering pump on 1995 Chevrolet1500 2wd with 350ci with air conditioner

  1. Lift the hood. Remove the power-steering cap. Use the turkey baster to siphon as much fluid as possible from the power-steering pump reservoir. This is done to lessen the fluid loss when the hoses are removed.

  2. 2

Remove the two pressure hoses from the rear of the power-steering pump, using a wrench and common screwdriver. The high-pressure hose is threaded into the back of the pump while the lower-pressure hose is held on with a clamp.

  3. 3

Loosen the belt tensioner by using a wrench to move the tensioner away from the belt and removing the belt.

  4. 4

Place the power-steering pulley extractor tool on the nose of the pulley. The tool has two half shells that clamp around the lip on the nose of the pulley and around the lip of the tool. Thread the tool in until the shells fit on both the pulley and the tool lip. Install the circular metal band to keep the shells in place. Hold the threaded head of the tool with a wrench. With another appropriately sized wrench, turn the large nut above the shells counterclockwise to pull the pulley off.

  5. 5

Remove the bolts securing the pump to the support bracket. Remove the pump.

  6. 6

Install the new pump. Insert the securing bolts and tighten. Install the pulley by holding the pulley on the shaft while threading the extractor tool into the center hole of the shaft, with the shells removed. Hold the head of the threaded shaft with one wrench and turn the large nut clockwise with another wrench to push the pulley on the power-steering pump shaft.

  7. 7

Install the serpentine belt by pushing the tensioner away from the belt while wrapping the belt around the pulleys. Allow the tensioner to press on the belt, causing tension.

  8. 8

Install the two power-steering hoses. Fill the power-steering pump reservoir with power-steering fluid. Start the truck and turn the steering wheel lock-to-lock, left and right several times to bleed all the air from the system. Check the fluid one more time.

Could be altenator bearing, water pump, air conditioner compressor or power steering pump. Try to isolate where noise is coming from.
