Question about 2001 Mazda B-Series

Car wont start...power keeps going out in it...had to replace spark plugs and wires and cover box...now looses power and abs liht keep coming on and raadio gos on and off...after stop car and turn off...will not start with out jump off

CHECK BATTERY CABLES FIRST MAKE SURE THEY ARE TIGHT AND FREE FROM CORROSSION TURN OFF RADIO FIRST TO KEEP FROM LOCKING IT OUT WHEN YOU DISCONNECT BATTERY CABLES.IF ALL IS GOOD.YOU HAVE WEAK BATTERY.HAVE IT CHARGED + CHECKED OR REPLACE BATTERY.CHECK ALTERNATOR OUT PUT.IT SHOULD BE 13.5 TO 14.5 VOLTS WITH ENGINE RUNNING.IF NOT CHECK ALTERNATOR FUSE AND ALTERNATOR ELECTRICAL WIRES MAKE NOT LOOSE OR DAMAGED.MAKE SURE DRIVE BELT NOT LOOSE SLIPPING.

I have a 2005 lincoln ls i drove through water up to door car died it wont start it keeps clicking but battery is not dead, aslo the alarm keeps coming on after i try to start it lihts flicker to?


My advice is not for Lincoln cars only but all cars equipped with electronic control units and sensors.
Entire vehicle needs to be checked for electrical system integrity due to possible water damage. Especially fuse box/boxes, damaged relays and fuses inside if there are any. Before its done, its better to not turn on the vehicle. You can separate positive terminal from the battery if its applicable. Alarm comes on possibly due to lack or mixed signal/voltage coming from system sensors to control unit.

74 malibu. Starts but wont stay running. New starter, New Fuses, New distributor. Spark plugs are firing and fuel is getting to engine.


It seems like you have overlooked something.
If you have spark and fuel, it should keep running.
Sometimes the key switch is faulty and you loose spark when you turn the key back to the run position.
You should be able to run a jumper wire to the coil and crank the engine over to see if you are loosing power to the coil.

Valve cover is leaking oil on my 2000 1.9 TDI Passat. Have changed the gasket but still leaking badly. Have been told to change whole cover but VW want £120,00 Any ideas?


will try to help.if it's only the valve cover leaking,i'm guessing they sold you the rubber one that says ne rtv sealant needed. take your back off, try not to break the rubber seal when removing!clean the top of head where gasket goes. clean the valve cover really good!clean the grooves out that the gasket slides into. buy some blue trv glue, apply a thin coat to top of head, let it setup while you apply another thin coat to valve cover, let set 10mins. apply gasket to valve cover making sure to push the gasket into the grooves on valve cover. don't worry about neatness. let the valve cover set on a hard surface with the gasket against the hard flat surface[such as a garage floor,or clean driveway] after10 more minutes install the valve cover,make sure and take your time. place valve cover onto motor,than hand start each bolt to insure thay are going into the prope bolt holes. after you have each bolt hand started, start at center of valve cover snugging the bolts down to motor. do not crank down or apply excessive force when tightening those bolts. you should see some of that blue rtv glue coming out around the valve cover when applying torque to the valve cover bolts. only secure them snug at first. let car set for 15mins. start car and look for leaks around the cover, do not over tighten those bolts but you may need to look for a leak, go to bolt closest to leak and turn it 1/4 at a time until leak stops. but if you do this step by step, you'll not have a leak issue. you may have pinched the gasket when you replaced it. hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com

Replacing spark plugs in a 2002 chevy tahoe


EACH ONE OF THE SPARK PLUGS IS LOCATED UNDER INDIVIDUAL COILS. YOU MUST FIRST REMOVE THE BOLT ON TOP OF THE COIL AND GENTLY TWIST AND PULL UP ON THE COIL WITHOUT RIPPING THE BOOT. UNPLUGGING THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR IS NECESSARY ON MOST MODELS. SOME OF THE NEWER MOTORS HAVE A COVER ON THE TOP OF THE ENGINE THAT HIDES THE COILS. PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA. Diff lock and abs lights


Check to see if the plugs on the wheels are plugged in check that the pins are all the way into socket, that your ABS problem, next check to see if you knocked loose the wire on the differential most likely cause and be sure to top off power steering fluid. Check that the fluid level is ok on the Diff. if you need more help let me know and thanks for using Fix-ya and rate if this was helpful.

yes it would be under warenty go to the dealer and have them look at it if you need help after that contact me for more help. It could get expensive to fix yourself and it takes special tools to work on abs, it could be as simple as a bad wheel sensor and has to be fixed and the light reset, the dealer has a computer to test and fix it and it would be no cost to you, the only thing they would not cover is if the brakes needed replaced but the ABS would be covered, and hurry time is short for Gm.

Number 2 spark plug wire keeps popping off spark plug


First, make sure the spark plug is in tight and not cross threaded (take it and put back in). If the plug is loose, pressure comes out of the cylinder and pushed the wire off.

Second, push the spark plug boot on and massage the air out of the boot.

Car won't start


Stang: Nissan had a TSB on weak spark related to the Altima's and Sentra's. It had to do with water getting trapped in the spark plug tubes due to the steam hole vents in the plug wires becoming clogged and/on the wires no longer sealing well to the motor, thus allowing water to accumulate into the plug holes. This would cause a weak spark condition. You would still get an injector pulse as long as the ignition can be triggered.
As far as fuses: There is a box on the driver's side which contains fusible links and fuses. Unless you are checking for power with the ignition on, most of the circuits will be dead because they are switched circuits through the ignition switch. The headlights will be hot without the key on, as will the running lights,horn and brake lights.
However due to the fact that you have light spark and have injector pulse, would tell me that you have power to the ECM. If you want to check circuits, buy a cheap test light and follow the instructions. it is a simple diagnostic tool for checking for open circuits.
Hopeful I might have given you some direction. Good luck.
PS: if you replace plug wires, do so with a good quality wire. I have found that NGK wires and the Original equipment wires seem to be the best quality, lasting the longest. Life time warranty parts mean nothing if they fail at inconvenient times and with frequency. Many of these warranty's are gambles made by parts houses based on the fact that people loose their information, don't keep the cars and or just forgot they had the warranty and went out and replaced the parts again.

You neeed to replace the ABS fuse located in the fuse box. Sound like it might be just loose but I always change them anyway.

Oil leaking out of valve cover gasket


It is a Valve Cover Gasket. You can get a new one at any Auto Parts Store. To make this repair last longer, Do not get the Cheap one, Get a Felpro Gasket and it will Quadrupel the Gasket Life. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!
